Bitching about the value of the franchise going up because of KG is very egotistical. All franchises have gone up in price. Taylor paid him very well. He never cheaped out on him. So is KG saying all players should get a peice of the pie with franchise prices rising? Nope he is saying he should. That is very self centered. I am glad he is not around the kids anymore. He have been an asset on the court but off the court he is just a problem. I have been very impressed with how LeBron handles his business. KG is not in his league as a player or businessman.

1) I'm not quite certain what Garnett was trying to say.
2) I think he's been pretty solid off the court, actually. He's been pretty quiet which is a good thing. You can compare him ONLY to one of the very best... or compare him to one of the very best as well as the hundreds of other players.
3) James is helping change how players market themselves. That's a great business move. It's also incredibly calculated at every step, which I'm less a fan of... but I seem to be in the minority on that one.
4) It seems like you have beef with Garnett a bit. Again, fair enough. I just don't see what he said that was so bad.

I actually really like KG, but hate it when he does crap like this. More is less. He could use a good PR guy for items like this. It makes me pissed he wouldn't play last year. He didn't do it for the good the franchise that is for sure. I think he could have handled Hill's minutes and I think he wanted to play, but not for vet minium.

You act like he setup these interviews to trash Glenn and that's just not what happened at all. He answered the questions he was asked, but these interviews were about life after basketball in general not just how things are with Glenn and the Wolves. His goal was to answer the questions honestly and not make up some BS. I don't get the hostility towards KG like he's acting like an entitled brat. He has some entitlement to this franchise. We were only ever successful when he was here. He put this team on the map. It's not bratty to want to be a part of the organization you grew up in and became a star in. Basically once Flip died Glenn moved on and didn't really give KG a chance to regroup and get another minority group together. Glenn alienated KG and Love when they both left and you're going after KG because he called it what it is right now? And don't mistake KG coming back as being all good with Glenn. He came back for Flip.

Plus, because of KG, a whole generation of young players learned the proper use of the term "mothafucka" on the basketball court. One of his best contributions to the game.

While true... a few others might have also learned about the value of PnR defense, unselfish ball movement and hard work in practice paying off in games.

Also true, but wouldn't it have been great if he could have done it with the same class as so many of the other all time greats?

I like it when KG is part of the team. Not a fan of this stuff and think it is interesting how everyone blames Taylor for all issues with Wolves. I don't see him as a bad owner like the Pohlads.

Sure. It's pretty common for us to want more.

No person/player is perfect. Garnett had his flaws both on and off the court. We can dwell on the negative stuff... ignore it... or find some way to balance the two. I opt for the latter.

Garnett was never my favorite player. And some of it might have had to do with his histrionics on the court. But the guy stayed out of trouble. Was a top 20 - 25 player in NBA history. Earned All NBA and even an MVP award. Played HARD. Played unselfishly. Played with passion.

He was also a loud-mouthed, cursing, mean-spirited possible racist. Considering the other cats who've walked onto the Target Center court... I think the overall grade during Garnett's career was fairly solid. And I guess it depends who we're comparing him to...

Let's look at some other superstars (all time and from his era)...

- Wilt Chamberlain
- Kobe Bryant
- Karl Malone
- Charles Barkley
- Rick Barry
- James Kidd
- Allen Iverson
- Vince Carter
- Dwight Howard
- Scottie Pippen
- Larry Bird
- Julius Erving

All of these guys and others had incidents at one point or another. None of them were perfect. Neither was Garnett. Instead of focusing on all the things he wasn't... sometimes I'm just glad he wasn't the next Isiah Rider or Christian Laettner or Michael Beasley or Michael Olowakandi or Ricky Davis or Rashad McCants... you get the point.

Well put. Sounds like Rider might have figured it out after basketball.

Ah yes, the great James "don't bring a knife to a gunfight" Kidd. He had a difficult upbringing and an overbearing father. When he entered the draft at age 20, he was actually 27 years old thanks to some chicanery with his birth certificate. Folks seem to easily forget the 5 years he spent in jail. But what a player, what a player.....
