Since we're throwing ideas around, what would it take to acquire Goran Dragic? The asking price couldn't be too high. Would you deal Kris Dunn and Nikola Pekovic's contract for him? Could that be a three-team deal with Sacramento where Rubio gets shipped off to? I think this team with Dragic at the helm could be an interesting look.

I like that idea a lot. Versatile guard who can do a lot of things.

I don't think Dunn/Pekovic is enough to get Dragic. And they'd have to really like Dunn.

A Dunn/Winslow pairing would be fun to watch defensively. And comically bad to watch if either one had to shoot on the other end...

I wouldn't trade Dunn for Dragic. I think it's too early to give up on Dunn. I think his ceiling of being a defensive terror is an important piece that happens to fit with our other young pieces. I think he just needs more time to adjust and a little more responsibility of creating offense off the dribble. He's hasn't been able to play like he did in college at all and I think it has affected his confidence and aggressive play style. I think if any move is going to be made it should be Ricky. Start Dunn or Tyus to let them continue to develop. It's pretty obvious Ricky isn't going to be here long-term and he's going to want out anyway after the season when we miss the playoffs. Ricky (and possibly Bazz if needed) for Noel and Thompson from Philly would be ideal IMO. A defensive big and a 40% 3pt shooter on the wing.

Here is my ridiculous fan trade:

MIN trades Rubio to SAC, Shabazz to PHO
PHO trades Brandon Knight and PJ Tucker to MIN
SAC trades Rudy Gay to PHO

SAC trades a guy who wants out for a long term PG. Rubio will give Cousins all the touches he wants.

PHO stops trying the "lots of PG" thing and establishes a clear starting backcourt of Bledsoe/Booker/Gay. They get out of Knight's salary and get a look at Gay to see if he is a long-term fit. They also get a bench scorer in Shabazz who has had some big games vs. their team.

MIN acquires a good PG having a bad year in Brandon Knight. He can score and has good size. Tucker would provide some much needed beef and attitude off the bench.

You're probably right, but the idea was very basic in presentation. In thinking about it more, perhaps a three team deal where Rudy Gay and Kris Dunn land in Miami, Ricky Rubio winds up in Sacramento, and Goran Dragic lands in Minnesota would work out better. I could see that having legs. We'll end up eating that Pekovic deal.

Would be interesting to see how that trade would be perceived... the superficial stats might favor Knight a bit... but the advanced stats help Rubio by a not insignificant margin.

There could be legit reasons why Knight would be traded 3x in 5 seasons...

He is no savior, but he shot .342 from 3 last year and is 6'3". Seems like he might fit Thibs' scheme better if the idea is Thibs wants a PG who can switch on D and hit the corner three.

He might. I know he's regressed as well... but Rubio just isn't having the impact this season he's had in the past.

Fluke... or trend... that's the issue.
