Interesting statistics thread
Re: Interesting statistics thread
Andrew Wiggins is second to Damian Lillard in total clutch points scored. Butler is 4th. These two have come up big when it's mattered and is largely the reason we are not 2-6 or worse based on our point differential.
Re: Interesting statistics thread
Fun stat although some comments point out some additional nuances.

"The Phoenix Suns "7 Seconds or Less" '04-'05 team, which led the NBA in pace, would rank 25th this season."

Not that shocking. Wolves starters have came out flat in a lot of games. So the numbers are not that shocking to me.

Not great. Those rankings are out of the 16 top 5-man lineups in terms of minutes played. So we're right in the middle overall, although a net rating of +9.0 in and of itself is good.
What is funny (and I posted this earlier) is that every single one of our players as individuals has a negative net rating. One reason is that look at how this 5-man lineup combination did:
Gibson-Muhammad-Teague-KAT-Wig: -33.1 net rating after 35 minutes on the floor together so far this season.
The second you put Muhammad in for Butler, it brings EVERYONE else down!
But then how can Butler still be a negative? Well, most of the other 5-men lineups he's been on the floor with that doesn't have the other four starters in it have been negative.
Of course, everything is a little blown out of proportion this time of year due to the small sample size, especially in 5-man lineups. Those two games against Indiana and Detroit really skewed things negatively. And because all our wins have been close, it hasn't had a proportionate affect in the other direction.

You got a lot of the nuances Q. I glossed over the fact that it was top 16 of that sample size. In addition what teams and what combos are the other 15 teams? Are they good teams? It could be a non-representative group of 16 lineups...maybe it's a strong group or a week one. Like you said it's early and a small sample but it was interesting and that's what this thread is about right?!? :)

Yeah, we can't put too much stock into this stuff yet. It is refreshing to see our starting 5 at +9.0 as a net rating. That's pretty solid. Also keep in mind that those 5 consist of the largest sample size (#1 in minutes) of any 5-man NBA unit, so one could argue it is more valid than, say, some other lineup that has played nearly half the minutes at 75 or 80 with a better net rating.

So, our starting five leads the league in minutes played...man, who would have suspected that?
(Why does Thibs continue to be an outlier in wearing out his starters)

Re: Interesting statistics thread
After 9 games, the Wolves continue to shoot the three ball well (37.9% is 7th in the league), but not frequently enough (22.9 attempts per game ranks third from the bottom).
We continue to struggle on defense, still ranking last in the league in opponents adjusted FG %, although we are closing the gap on the Cavs who rank second to last.
And yet despite not adjusting to the new NBA in emphasizing the three and giving up a much too high shooting percentage, this squad has won 4 in a row and is 5-1 with Butler playing. I'm quite encouraged by this news.
