Yep. I don't see any benefit in shortchanging him on the buyout.

If the wolves want him gone... And the money won't affect the cap... It would be insulting at this point to quibble about money.

I know others here don't adhere to this thinking: but other players around the league would take notice at the perceived pettiness from the wolves.

He is the most important player in franchise history by far, I would pay him his full 8 million either way and offer him a minority stake in the team as well. I don't understand why it's such a big deal on either front. He is the only current or former Wolf with enough clout so I don't think we would be setting a precedent as others around basketball know what he means to us.

When he came back to Minnesota it was with the idea that he'd play a year or two then move into ownership with his old buddy Flip. The two of them were close, thus even with a minority share KG could expect to be more relevant than the typical minority investor. Now with Flip gone I'm guessing things are pretty up in the air for both sides. Would KG be okay in a less up front role, and if not could it be that they're concerned with taking on a volatile guy like KG without someone who has shown an ability to guide him? What made a lot of sense before Flip's passing may not make much after.

Am I the only person who wants to see KG return if he's able to? Even in his twilight KG is a very good player. To say someone wants to see KG retire so we can see more of Jordan Hill? Why? Because you prefer to watch worse basketball? If Payne is even a consideration for a roster spot, surely we have space for a KG over that. KG may be a walking injury, but at least he's effective when he does play.

The team was at its defensive best when he was on the floor last year . They could do a lot worse than him as the last guy on the bench. How is Kg more of a sore subject than Pek anyways? Good chance KG plays more minutes than him again this year.

No one said that.

To me here is the other thing about the Wolves and KG. This isn't Glip or maybe even Doc begging KG to come back. My guess is Thibs and Layden have said if he wants to come back that's fine but they aren't courting him. As much as Thibs is a grinder that wants you all in I think if KG called them right now and said something like:

"Hey guys I'm all in I don't know how much I can play but I want in on what we are doing this year. I'll work with young guys I'll practice as much as I can. I'll put in as much as my body will let me I just want in badly not just for myself but to be part of the team."

Considering everything that's happened this last year that probably is a bit tough for KG to do. His body is failing him. Flip died. Sam and some other Wolves folks got canned and it you could say it may have been handled a bit better. His mother in law died. Thibs and Layden are the new guys in town. His future with the franchise is up in the air when around a year ago he thought he had a sure place in it. That's a lot of stuff. I'm sure KG would like to be courted more or feel like he is wanted more but I can't blame Thins and Layden for not doing so (or what we can assume from what we hear). Who wants to have a guy back that might play only 5 games or 20 or whatever and be limited in minutes? It will be interesting to see how this ends up playing out. Training camp is what 2 months away? We should have some sort of answer in the next month.
