Yup, gotta love his comments on analytics! And it was also encouraging to hear him talk about the need for easy baskets with a transition game. Maybe we won't lose as much of the fastbreak and some people here fear... (hi LST! :-)
The presser was pretty anti-climatic because most everything said had already been said during interviews given leading up to Tuesday. But the Barreiro interview covered all sorts of new topics. Again, despite being almost an hour long, it is well worth a listen!

Thanks for posting this one Tim I agree there was some good stuff.
Dan really tried to get Thibs to talk about bringing in vets but Thibs didn't go there instead he basically said they will look at all the options etc but I think he was being truthful about it. Thibs said whatever they do should fit and make sense 3-4 years down the road. That doesn't sound like a guy looking to move a pick for a vet and it really seems they are going to take a long view which I am a little bit surprised at but also pleased.
I was interested in all he talked about with analytics especially when he mentioned how he worked with Morey in Houston and also the guy in Boston plus he was at a conference this year. Let's put it this way I don't think there will be any stones left un turned and that's not to just sound good I think Thibs and Layden are actually going to do the work.

Hmmm... Why would Thibs have just talked to Sam (as in the last day or two)? What could it be about?
Yeah, call it a BIG leap, but future assistant on the Wolves bench is one of the only things I could come up with!
I thought Barreiro sounded kind of naïve when he dismissed emailers who wanted him to ask about specific players Thibs might like in free agency, saying he obviously couldn't do that because of tampering...but he asked Thibs about Sam Cassell who is currently under contract with the Clippers!
I had noticed that in the past as well (not from Barreiro, but more BSPN). I tried to find stuff on the internet, and everything I found basically said the same thing: Team are less concerned about losing assistants than they are player/headcoaches/GM's. They are seemingly treated as 2nd class citizens, for the most part only receiving year to year contracts.
