It begs the question as to whether we need to find a big 3&D SF and slide Wiggins to SG and do the same at Center, moving KAT to PF (at least to start games). That would mean LaVine becomes the 6th man.
Waaaaay too early to do anything like this or make any trades of course, but we'll have to see how often we lose because of being pushed around and bullied. The Kings and Memphis got a lot of good interior looks because we can't hold our ground or do a good enough job on the defensive glass.
Interesting thoughts. It illustrates how many different ways Thayden can take this thing. Another thing that's interesting is the Wolves have until tomorrow to extend Dieng and Bazz. AP guy said we were negotiating with both today. Everybody knows that if Dieng hits RFA, he is going to get 4 x 20 immediately. And that is what is making it hard to get him to agree to something less than that. I've heard we would need to go over 17 to have a chance to get this done. But Maybe we let him go and focus on the something like you mention above. Will be interesting.
I'm torn on Dieng. He has really grown into a great glue guy offensively. He keeps the ball moving, hits the open mid-range shots, makes his FTs, and gets some nice garbage buckets on the offensive glass. He's become a pretty damn effective offensive player in a system where he's not even a primary option.
Defensively, he gets his fair share of blocks and deflections, but when someone takes it right at his chest, he's dead meat. That's what just kills him - and the team - on a lot of plays. Now I think he's gotten better with Towns in there to help. But still, neither of these guys are built to handle beasts like Gasol, Drummond, and Cousins in the low block.
Anytime you have a skilled big that stays healthy, he's a keeper. On the other hand, my goodness, the money he'll cost us.....Would we be better off finding a better version of Cole Aldrich? Does that person even exist and could we get him?

One other thing to consider is if the Wolves pay to keep him and Dieng stays healthy he probably won't be hard to find another home if that needs to happen.
