I think he is, and that is why I opt to play Wiggins/Bazz at the 2/3 over Lavine/Wiggins. I hope that Lavine and Bazz can get a healthy rivalry for playing time, but for now I think Bazz should have the edge.

I don't agree Doper. Zach has a much higher ceiling than Bazz and is more versatile in the things he can do.

I think Zach has a higher ceiling too. But right now I think Bazz is a better player at his respective position and seems to have a bit more work ethic toward his game. Which makes me think that Bazz is more likely to reach his ceiling than Lavine is. Both need minutes for development. I'd rather see them go to the player that works his ass off.

Zach is a gym rat that they have to force to get off the practice court. No problems with work ethic there.

Im sure he's in the gym. I don't know if it's geting through to him. Plus I think his approach to his offseason workout regimen (working out with his dad) was a bit immature. I just don't see the fire with him that I see with Bazz. Yes this is totally anecdotal. Would love Zach to prove me wrong over and over though and you can be welcome to tell me you told me so.

Bazz has unquestionable outward fire! I think it's easy as fans looking only from the outside to view their personalities and equate that to their inner drive. I also think it's a horribly in accurate picture.

Im not saying I know. No one does. I only see personality traits that make me wonder. Zach is the only player on the team that I truly worry about exterior issues off the court. From what I have heard of his interviews and witnessed on social media, he seems the least mature of all the Wolves. I also find it to be a huge headscratcher that someone with his talent couldn't play at UCLA.

I think you are being too hard on Zach. He didn't just work out with his dad and what if he did? He looks stronger than last year no doubt probably bigger than I was expecting to be honest. Bazz has a unique fire about him there is no doubt but I think Zach doesn't have lack of drive except maybe a couple defensive players here and there he quits on. But that has been cut way down this year from what I have seen. The dude is a fun loving 20 year old I like him a lot. Bazz is 2.5 years older and has an additional year in the league than Zach which is something to keep in mind.

Bazz deserves a ton of credit and it's easy to cheer for him. It wasn't that long ago he was the man coming out of HS. I would think he knew his dad had some issues but everything came out he dropped in the draft had a blunder at the rookie symposium has struggled with injuries and staying in shape. Through it all the dude has battled and turned into a crazy hustle guy that can play and seems like he is now his own man. Zach's situation has been almost the opposite in terms of what he has had to endure and work through. It's nice to have some young players with promise (that have like actually done something) and I actually kinda like them as people from what I can tell. This Wolves re-re-rebuild does feel different.

I am being way too hard. There is nothing beyond a hunch that makes me think this way. I am usually a pretty good judge of character though, so I will leave it at that. Zach does seem fun. I hope it is not too fun for his own development. I really want all of these kids to succeed. And I agree 100% that we are in a great situation to be picking between what talent young players we need to develop.

He gained 10 pounds of good weight this off-season. Call it what you want (wrongly), but his summer was a success from a physical standpoint.

Also, how is training with your dad immature? You realize Karl-Anthony Towns did that too, right? Or are you just throwing out outlandish things to help the case for Shabazz? That's not necessary as Bazz's production and energy speak for themselves.

i don't think we need a rivalry with Zach and Bazz, they're different players who can be used in different situations or together.

Man you are really touchy. How do you know it is good weight? What is your expertise, and further to that point what is Paul Lavine's expertise? I will be disappointed if Towns chose to train with his dad this offseason too. From my perspective, parents are too close to the situation to have an objective viewpoint. In saying that Towns' dad was a basketball coach so I can see more benefits than Lavine's dad who is a former USFL player. They (Towns and Lavine's dads) are obviously both great amateur devleopers of talent. But if you have all the resources available to you as a pro, seek out the best talent in these situations. Nepotism is never a good tactic for success in any business, it's lazy and generally shows you are not willing to make the extra effort to seek out the best talent and rather opting for what is familiar.
