Cool, check out the advanced stats on Wiggins. He really bombs there. Meanwhile, Ricky and KAT have very good advanced stats. LaVine had really bad advanced stats last year but his improvement has made his advanced stats average (which is a great improvement). I put very little stock in scoring average as the sole criteria of a player's value. I look at all stats and I really like advanced stats and RPM. Plus my eye test just says Wiggins while making some amazing plays struggles too much in areas and he's really not an efficient scorer yet (I think he will get more efficient, so I'm' not down on him).

Wiggins is not our best player right now. He's not even our second best player. He's probably our 3rd or 4th best player. I'd say Rubio and Towns are #1 and #2, depending on the night. Wiggins is somewhere in the mix after that along with LaVine and Dieng.
Honestly, someone could make the case for KG being one of our top 2 or 3 guys simply because of how the team performs when he's on the court. But he doesn't play enough minutes IMO to qualify.
3rd or 4th?? Hmmm. I got to go with Cool. Other contending teams would be dying to have Wiggins as their 3rd or 4th. It is not possible to have him be our 3rd or 4th best player and for us to not be contending. It is just silly. Everyone on the team knows he is the best, that is why they defer to him in the fourth. Can he always do it? Not yet. But he is the best.

I just don't know who'd be moved ahead of Wiggins as "3rd best."

I'm with Q on his analysis. Wiggins is a pretty inefficient scorer right now and he doesn't fill up the stat sheet like KAT, Ricky, Dieng or Lavine yet. I think Wiggins is one of the top two players to have on the team along with KAT just based on his ceiling. Wiggins is a work in progress and just enjoy the journey.
Re: KAT is a major disap....I mean, success!
I think the reality is there is no "best player" on this team. There are arguments for a couple different guys but IMO there just isn't a clear cut guy. That's not really a negative though based on the way the roster makeup is and it doesn't mean any guy sucks because he isn't that player both young and old. It's pretty clear who will be the top players on this team going forward and that's pretty significant but they aren't there yet. That's fine they are just 20 and literally months away from being in college. Flip did a hell of a job putting together all this talent.

Other contending teams - or pretty much any team - would be dying to have Wiggins because of his age and perceived ceiling. You are projecting him as a player that he hasn't become yet.

I can sort of buy this in that it's hard to make a no-doubt-about-it case for any one guy. From a pure box score production perspective, it's KAT....by a lot. But as we have talked about numerous times before, there are little things that he probably hasn't quite grasped yet and don't really show up in things like PER and win shares.
Rubio is doing well in both the advanced stats AND the little things. He also leads the team in net rating. There literally isn't an advanced comprehensive stat that he doesn't fare well in. That being said, without guys that can score the basketball, his impact is muted. He isn't capable of a high usage rate.
Wiggins does two things reasonably well - score in volume (albeit not efficiently) and play solid defense. Otherwise, he is of very little help when it comes to floor spacing, rebounding, setting up easy buckets for others, winning 50/50 balls, creating turnovers, etc. etc.
He complements those other two because you can isolate him on the perimeter at the end of games and he has a reasonable chance of getting a shot off or getting fouled. That's a good skill to have, but it doesn't make him the best player on the team. I would also argue LaVine probably has this same skill, but simply hasn't been given the same opportunity yet.

I interpreted that last stat wrong Q, my apologies. You may be right. Wiggins might be our 4th best player.

Best 4th quarter offensive rating. Best player gets the ball in the 4th, that is the way it works. He is our only player that has won us multiple games this year on his own back. He is our best player.

I believe the ability to get the ball late in games and score in isolation is a legitimate skill. But all the other stuff that gets the team to that point (or not) counts too. So what made the game close to begin with and how did he contribute to it being close? What about the games we lost and he didn't even have a chance to win the game down the stretch? Do his contributions in those games (or lack thereof) not count? Or what about the close games that he ended up not being able to close out?

Whoa! From 1st to 4th! That was a quick retreat :)
I agree with Monster that identifying the best player on the Wolves (or the 2nd best, or 3rd best, etc., etc.) is a little muddy. I think I can lay out a pretty darn good case that it's Rubio and/or KAT, but it's not by a country mile.
We all want Wiggins to be great. He's not there yet.
