I'll go 45% pork chop meat substitute but like others it could escalate quickly. I love Rubio but have been worried about his injury history for a couple years. This year is key. Last night even in a game that he didn't exactly play all that well he showed why people really like him. He was playing his butt off doing whatever he could to try and win and was fired up.
For me, next year is key rather than this year. While winning is nice this year, its not critical to the team's long term success. So if Ricky's injuries lead us to fall short and keep our draft pick, its ok. Next year we will be in absolute playoff mode, so Ricky's health does matter. I think if Ricky's health is a huge issue beyond this year, then we have to at least bring in a borderline starting caliber point guard. As someone pointed out earlier, Curry had the early injury plagued label. Deron Williams who has battled injuries is having a very nice year so far. Maybe a year of Kander will do wonders.

He is still what he always was, a fragile, bad shooting, great passing, good defending, winner. I'll still take that on my team. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking at young PGs. I think we absolutely should.
I was one of a number of us last offseason that wanted to add a young PG and the Wolves did that drafting Tyus. Different posters wanted different guys or different profiles of type is players to add but they added Tyus and he has some legit talent even his detractors I think have been impressed with him offensively (it's defense we are all worried about) and he doesn't turn 20 till next May. I am not opposed to brining in another youngish PG (we do also have Lavine) but I do have some faith in Tyus.

To be fair, waiting until year 6 of Ricky to know for sure seems like one helluva long wait...

This year is key both for the Wolves winning AND what I think of his future. I was more talking about his health in consideration of how I feel about his future though. If he can only play 40-50 games this year that's bad news. Maybe he can still get healthy but it's ominous for sure and if staying healthy looks to be a real problem the Wolves may have to start looking at other options at some point especially if the playoffs look like a real thing next year. Liken I said this year is key we need to see how it plays out. Ideally we find out something somewhat difinitive one way or another with Rubio but it likely won't be that cut and dry.

I haven't seen enough of Tyus to make an informed decision. At this point I hope he is making strides in practice and can contribute. I assume his talent is not NBA caliber otherwise he would have forced the coaching staff's hand by now. I'd rather be optimistic too so why not get him on the floor a bit at this point? All in all I like that we have all these vets (and Pek), we could have some interesting trade options at the deadline.
20%. I'm a bit concerned that Rubio's ankle could cause chronic problems. That said he should be judged at the end of this season, not now. And so far Kander is taking an extremely cautious approach with him, and I'm going to give him credit that he knows what he's doing at this point because of his stellar track record.
Bottom line is this: it's been proven time and time that again we are a much better team with Ricky on the court. So until one of his injuries is proven to be chronic, there is no reason to go away from the original plan of Ricky as our long term starting point guard.
Nice poll idea. I'm at 45% Pork Chop. That number is my guess is how many of the available minutes Ricky will play this season. Not good enough, but I'll stay below 50 for now, likely to go up this season.
Like many others, I'm tired of waiting and I don't see him being a reliable playoff guard when we get there. With him, KG, and Pek, we'll have about 33 million paid to part time players this and next year.

Miller is a vet and when coming off the bench tends to be playing with young guys and bench players so it makes sense to play him instead of another young guy in Tyus. Look up Miller's stats this year he has been Pretty damn good and that jives with what I have seen on the court. So I don't think that because Tyus hasn't forced his way on the court should damn him for now. Miller won't be this effective all year though and Tyus is likely to be able to hits some 3 point shots so I think he will get some chances especially if Rubio continues to miss games here and there regardless of the reasons or reasoning (like being cautious) for those missed games. Lavine could also force his way into the starting SG position (or someone could get injured like Martin) which would give Tyus a chance to play.
Edit: Once again let's remember this kid is 19 so it may take some time for him especially his body. Also he was a really effective college PG as a freshman and won a national championship and was named the MVP with the double edged sword of playing with some premium talent that went to the NBA a few months later.
Fun, but also meaningful topic...how the fans and especially the coaching staff feels about Ricky is one of the most important factors in the direction of this team. I'm concerned about being too knee jerk in my response having watched Ricky play so poorly last night, but there's no question my pork-o-meter has gone up considerably since the start of the year.
As the season began my pork-o-meter was around 10%. My positive thoughts about him were based on:
1) a belief that his injuries were situational and not chronic
2) his extraordinary on/off numbers
3) a belief that his shot was improving and that he could become an average shooter
4) my overall positive feeling about him. He plays hard, he never complains, he plays unselfishly and he seems to have a burning desire to win.
5) his disruptive defense
The new ankle injury (which Arnie says is unrelated to last year's injury, his lack of improvement in his shot, and the fact that he didn't even run the offense very well last night (Zach did a better job than Ricky at the point last night), has significantly moved my needle. I am now sitting at 50% pork.
I have a feeling that my pork-o-meter will jump around more than my other T-wolf beliefs. I may update after the Portland game.
I'm 90% Porkchop. I'm tired of having a primary ball handler who can't score in any capacity. It doesn't work for anyone else so why should we expect it to work for us to the tune of playoff success and possibly championship success. He can't shoot so he'll never be a viable 3 and D option next to Lavine and Wiggins. Honestly the way Tyus played at Duke is how I want my PG to play. Someone who runs the offense, gets everyone involved and can take over if needed. It's what CP3 does just at a much higher level because he's a much better athlete than Tyus. Slap 20lbs on Tyus and I would rather he play over Rubio even though it means sacrificing a good chunk of defense because we'd actually have a functional offense to make up for it. I'm fine keeping Ricky until we find a replacement, but I want us actually looking for a replacement because I think Ricky as good as he is on a team play level costs us games because he can't score as our primary ball handler and teams just don't get away with that in today's game.
