I could see the POBO being someone else brought in. But the story line with KG playing for one year to help this very young team with loads of potential get off on the right track, and then moving into an ownership role seems like a very real possibility. And if KG is involved, it sure seems like Mitchell as head coach would be secure.

That person in turn would determine the fate of Milt and Sam.

I don't think there should be any question that Sam and Milt should be allowed to work through the season. The single area where I differ is if a quality PBO is available and willing to take the job you do so immediately. Give the person the season to evaluate every aspect of the BB side so their decision at the end of the season is well reasoned and not knee jerk. Sam could appear to do well from an outside perspective and still reasonably be seen as not being the right person, just as the team could struggle, but with an insider's perspective he may well be the right person for the job.

Don't wait on hiring a PBO, but do let the season play out before making any significant changes outside of trades that may make sense.

Good point, SP. Although another factor is Glen's plan for the future. The only reason he still owns the team is because of Flip. A first take would be maybe Glen wants to sell, and thus the new ownership group should be the ones to choose PBO.

But my gut tells me that the same quality in Flip that made Glen want to keep the team, also exists in Sam and KG. And if so, keeping the team makes sense, and to your point, finding a PBO should be a top priority.

At least Glen knows how not to go about finding a PBO (e.g. Kahn)!

Yeah, I hear you SP on getting a new POBO. I guess I can see starting that search process fairly soon, but realistically not hiring anyone until the new year. Even in that scenario, why not keep Milt in place in his original duties, at least through the rest of the season. Then the POBO can go to work making changes.

I agree with Cool on KG as POBO. Oh God, please no. We need someone that has cut his teeth as a coach and/or has been in various front office positions previously. I'm perfectly fine with giving him a stake in ownership and then calling him an "assistant GM" or "Timberwolves Brand Ambassodor" or some other semi-made up job. But I'm not sure the attributes that made him a great player are the same ones required to be a great POBO.....

I've read that there a lot of prospective owners who want in on an NBA team. Desperately. I'm guessing they're circling the waters around 1st Avenue in the next few weeks/months...

What if all of us on here kick in some money....we could probably raise well over $1000. Then...we go to TCF or Anchor Bank and get a loan for the other $625M and BOOM - we own this team! The only thing left to decide would be which of us would be in charge of what. :-)

I will take the job of GM. If that's not available, I'm more than happy to be in charge of the dancers.

From a pure basketball standpoint, I could see the emotions affecting the team in a meaningful way. I think there will be a bump either positive or negative this season. I assume KG is going to be even more intense to overcompensate, this will mean overachieving or injury to me. There is an opportunity for the team to band together now which is interesting. Even more so now I think Mitchell is the right interim person in the coaching role. I do hope that Taylor sells, and that JVG takes over, but for now I just hope that Mitchell can really help the team band together and play with controlled emotion.

ONLY $625M? With the kind of brain power we have here and that initial seed fund of 1K, I imagine they might even give us $626M!!!!

OK, here are my initial thoughts on whose in charge of what:

LST - POBO (he golfs and seems kinda smart - close 'nuff!)
Lip - General Manager (sorry Milt)
60WinTim - Marketing
Carlos - Finance (If he can turn 1K into a $626M loan, I'm pretty sure he can make the Wolves profitable!)
Monster - Human Resources
Khans - Contract negotiations (he ain't budging!).
Camden - College Scouting. (he and Khans share a cube - tee hee).
Cool - Coaching search (so far he's the number one candidate in his search)
Mikkeman - Analytics (he's my manager, I'm just a lowly staff analyst)
Abe - Cheerleading squad chaperon
Papal - Team chaplain (and chaperon for Abe)
Bleed - Crunch
SP - Halftime entertainment
Wildwolf - East coast advanced scout (limited to just the Knicks and Nets)
Phenom - West coast scouting (that's everyone except the Knicks and Nets)
Porkchop - Rubio's personal assistant and water boy

Now I know I missed a number of you, but have no fear, we still have openings in the Legal department, Injury Rehabilitation and Recovery (we are WAY understaffed here - help wanted!), and international scouting. Please contact Monster in HR with your position of interest and as long as you can answer a short quiz successfully (hint: Lasagna is one of the answers), you have a spot!
