In what world did AP do enough to automatically get the time over AB? They are both pretty bad right now. I don't get why we'd pick one over the other right now before we had more information on both.
I think the fact that Flip specifically dealt for Payne and KG made it clear (at least in my mind) that AB was not being looked at as someone for next year. I"m not sure Flip ever really wanted/liked AB. He was more a throw in for Wiggins deal to happen. But Flip clearly stated he scouted/liked Payne and then gave up a 1st to go get him. That's why I think Payne is sticking (and KG obviously) which leaves AB as the odd man out.

Watch Vasquez closely, and you will see why the next team he plays for will be his 5th team in five years. He always wears out welcome after a few months, but his offensive stats always ensure another victim team is waiting in the wings. Toronto does that deal in a minute. I'm afraid Flip might too.
I watched him for 2 years for Toronto now. His PT has increased and playing significant minutes behind Lowry and covering when Lowry was injured. His value to Toronto is leaps and bounds beyond Bennett's value to anyone at this point. We may be able to get him for Bennett plus the picks but only because there was Toronto media calling for it. There is no basketball reason that Toronto makes that trade in my mind, but if Flip pulled off that good on him.
Here's what I see as the basketball reason, doper. Jones, Wright and Grant are all slated to be drafted around where the Raptors are drafting, and they may think any of them is an upgrade at backup PG. Plus it has to be attractive to pick up a local guy who was the #1 pick just 2 years ago...even if he hasn't shown much his first two seasons. I don't like the deal, but I understand why both teams do it.

Yeah but the proposed deal Cam put forward would mean Toronto ditches that pick and takes our 2nd rounders. That was the only point I was making. No way they get rid of their back up PG, their chance to draft at 20 just to get Bennett.

Good point, doper...I agree that deal doesn't make sense. I was speaking more to a simple player for player swap, without draft picks involved.
On Bennett being young and has potential I will add this. He turned 22 in March. When the season stars he will be about 6 months away from being 23. He is young but there are several top picks that had lost their shine by the time they were in the year when they were 23.

There are many examples of great players who don't "shine" at 23.
Sorry I thought maybe I was addig something to the conversation. I was just pointing out Bennett wasn't as young as people thought he was and there have been recent top 10 picks that have had more success than Bennett that by the time they were 23 or 24 basically are looked at as role players at best. Thomas Robinson (man I was dead wrong about that guy) waiters and Derrick Williams come to mind.
