My preference is Towns, but I really think Flip ends up taking Okafor.

People need to realize that Flip's mentality harkens back to the last century. He's old-school, like McHale. He simply will not be able to resist a low-post savant because he thinks it's such a rare skill-set and he'll think back to the great teams of yesteryear with elite low-post scorers.. And he will convince himself that defense can be taught and that Okafor has all the tools to become a great defender.

Q, I agree that flip is old school but Mchale has evolved and brought in to the modern era. The rockets jack up 3's all game and they have josh smith and corey brewer practice shooting 3's after practices. I remember when mchale coach the wolves, he emphasize on spreading the floor. Flip along with byron scott are the two coaches who dont have not cross over the modern game yet.

Understood. I'm thinking back to McHale's days as a GM. And let's be very clear - Morey is in charge in Houston. I'm not sure what he did to convince McHale of the modern NBA ways, but yeah, he's following the script he was given, that's for sure.

Although my skeptical side on flip says he'll take Okafor (Okafor will likely be a very good offensive player), I think he'll utlimately settle on Towns because he does so many things this team lacks...and I think Flip values a PF who can space the floor and stretch it a bit (he's always liked that with Love). And that, combined with his defensive ability (which Flip knows how bad we are on defense and we need to improve), makes Towns the guy.

Flip's taking Okafor, and truth be told, he can't justifiably explain why given what he's been telling us about what kind of players he wants here.

Also, for someone who has the #1 pick, he's really leaving this is the hands of the agents instead of making the decision hiimself

Wildwolf----WTF?! The dude lost his father a week ago, still attended the combine, and just won the lottery 5 hours ago and you're already saying he has lost control of the situation?! Are you f*cking serious?!

It's embarrassing how much garbage some of you are eating up from the media. These guys all recycle the same rumors because it's May. No top prospect is doing anything right now other than shoot jumpers by himself and post up folding chairs. If you think Flip, on May 19th, has made his mind on who he wants to draft at #1, you should buy some of these magic jumping beans I have.

Went with Towns. It's going to be an interesting month though.

I am pretty sure all involved in the MN front office will workout and watch the film on these guys and come to the conclusion that Towns is more ready now and probably has more overall upside. Okafor lacks hustle from time to time and is more big than explosive. He has nice handles / spin move for a man his size but when you look at Towns overall game it will be clear to our front office that he is the choice.

Don't read into the media right now! It's crazy. Everyone has an opinion and it's just that----their own darn opinion.

What we do know is Flip is a savvy person when it comes to trading. Let's be honest, we wouldn't have had Wiggins right now had we let it be known that Love was readily available. Somewhere along the lines, the Cavs folded and cave-in and handed us the first pick----when we repeated said NO, Love is not going anywhere....especially that garbage you're sending us.

We all know in the interviews after that Wiggins trade that he wanted 2 way players. Applying this to the current draft and Towns is the man.

But Flip is going to play it cool----he's going to keep telling the world that we don't know who our guy is. Make the Lakers beg us for that first pick (plus 2 more first rounders like the Chris Webber deal). In the mean time pray that Jahlil impresses the Lakers enough for them to push for that swap----heck, even if we only go another first; it be a victory.

We get our 2 way player and an extra pick.

BTW....watched a Skip Bayless segment and he said that Towns has pretty good mid-range game that was not ultalize in college. Said something to the effect like he wouldn't leave high school practice until he made 100 STRAIGHT shots!!! Probably why, for a big man, he shoots 81% from the line.

1. Flip isn't going to trade down. He's going to take who he believes is the best player in the draft. There's no need to risk not getting your guy because you get greedy.

2. The Lakers are not going to trade up. I'm sure they're very content with getting whichever big man we pass up as it's hard to argue that they're losing in that scenario.

3. I've said all college season long time and time again that Karl-Anthony Towns could shoot. Anyone that wanted him on their college basketball team knew the basic ins and outs of his game. Skip Bayless is late to the party on that one (he's also a bogus sports personality with little to no actual sports intellect).

4. As much as I'd like to give a ton of the credit for the Love trade to Flip, it's probably more accurate to give LeBron James just as much credit. If not for LeBron returning home and essentially having his way in all moves made, we don't get the rights to Wiggins and our franchise's future is not nearly as bright right now.
