SP, you summed up my thoughts eloquently. Yes, Love is clearly better than Wiggins right now, and may always be, at least at putting up stats But the fact of the matter is that having Love as our leader just hasn't worked out for the Wolves, and the idea of several highly regarded prospects replacing Love is intriguing to me. I'm more than ready for the next era to begin, and delighted that our unhappy superstar may bring us such a healthy return.

Yes and no. Obviously Love is a perfect fit next to just about anybody. That's what top 10 players are. But we have a serious deficiency in terms of two way players. And I'm not sure why you don't think Dieng can be that rim protector we need. His minutes should increase this year.

Two way players and outside shooting is what we need if we can't keep Love. Wiggins helps immensely on the two-way front, just need to find some shooters to allow Ricky to penetrate and dish.

It's not just two way players that the team is missing, but truly athletic players that can make the most of Rubio's game. I think the thing that excites me more than anything is the possibility of seeing a wide open running offense orchestrated by the best passer in the league! Combine that with the size and athleticism to possibly be a top ten defensive team and we could be in for some fun seasons!

Young prospects with the potential to be great has to be better than a mishmash of players that has the potential to make the playoffs and little more!

I think some of you have forgotten how lean some of those years were. There is better than average chance that Wiggins never gets to Love's level, forget about three or four years. It would have been nice to actually make the PO's before starting another rebuild.

That is one reason why my stance on Pek has changed a little bit. I still worry about him staying healthy, but having his inside scoring is going to be a big help if he can continue to do it at the same efficiency level as before. We would hopefully be stronger on the perimeter defensively so the rim protector shouldn't be as crucial to success as before.

This is exactly why my first thought heading into this off season was that the Wolves should try to trade Pek + a wing for a very good 2 way wing. As an example to see the type of player I envision. Think Pek + Brewer for someone like Iggy (only a coupled years younger)

Imagine a lineup of Dieng/Love/Iggy/Martin/Rubio with JJ, Bud, Lavine off the bench. Then add a couple more athletic bigs and you may have something.

Yep. This team either needs an athletic defensive minded C (Dieng could be that guy) to start along side Love or an athletic defensive minded PF to start next to Pek.

Golden State doesn't do that trade. Wings are hard to come by as it is.

I went with Wiggins because of 2 main reasons...

1) I can't see how we can get our true #1 guy (although Love is a top 10 NBA talent, I consider him best suited to be a super high level #2 if that makes sense) that has the type of 2 way ability to take us to a championship without taking the chance, and I think Wiggins could be the real deal.

but the bigger reason is...

2) I'm sick of Love's attitude

I voted Wiggins for one primary reason -- i.e., the question was premised on Love "being open" to signing an extension. If framed as Love "agreeing" to sign an extension, I would have voted Love. It's the same thinking of potential trade partners who are unwilling to give up much for Love without a commitment to sign an extension long term.

Really? We were 4th in pace of play last year. Kevin Love is the #1 reason. His elite defensive rebounding and outlet passes (which I think he throws better than anyone in NBA history) is what triggered our fast break. If I wanted to build a fast break team, the first guy I would pick would be Kevin Love.

As for Rubio, he needs wings that can shoot and bigs that can finish inside. While I'm sure Wiggins and LaVine will be on the receiving end of some great Rubio passes, the fact they can jump high is only marginally important. I'm far more concerned about their ability to consistently hit jump shots.
