Good point about Lee. I just don't like the idea of replacing Love with a guy not as good who isn't any better on D.
As for Flip's coaching. That's why part of me hopes no deal happens before the trade deadline b/c I really think Flip's coaching alone and the progress made by the young guys will give the team a good chance of making it into the playoffs. Those chances go up if he can make 1 or 2 moves to improve the roster yet this summer not involving Love.
I was very open to the idea of Thompson coming here until it started sounding like it would require a max deal. If they could somehow manage to keep him & Rubio at 12 mill or slightly less I'd be in favor.
Grey -- The problem is this. Even if we make the playoffs, a big uncertainty even with Flip coaching, it is highly likely Love would bolt as a FA next summer. Why? Because it's highly unlikely we'll be anything close to a championship contender next season even if we make the playoffs. Add to that the reality that Love has other issues with the organization that I don't see him getting over. So I don't want to keep Love just for a better shot at one playoff appearance with him on the roster. I'd rather take a step back and retool around Ricky by acquiring some high potential youngsters and picks.
Right, that's why it's up to Flip to feel things out with Love and determine what the chances are of him returning or what would need to happen in order for him to do so. I'd be happy if he could somehow get him to opt into the final year on his deal. That would give Flip an extra year to make things happen.
I'd like Bledsoe and the Lakers pick that Phoenix owns. I think the Lakers pick might be the best one we could get since they should be horrible next year, and much worse than the Nets or Boston with Love.

I agree that the Laker pick would be the best of all. And I like Bledsoe. But could he play with Ricky?

Maybe a 3 way deal where Bledsoe goes somewhere else, with the pick & a young piece to the Wolves.
I've cooled on a Klay deal precisely for the reason of what Parsons got. I figured they would get similar deals and didn't think Parsons would get a max. That said, I would still be ok with a Klay/Lee deal because Klay will likely still be tradeable even at a high salary and the Wolves will still be very competitive with Klay and Lee in the lineup. This trade would also take pressure off of Zach to save the team right away.

I've said this a lot on here, usually when comparing Parsons to Thompson, but yes, he's capable of playing SF and did so for the Warriors numerous times. Rubio-Martin-Thompson-Lee-Pekovic lineup has a capped ceiling, though. That is, unless you have really high hopes for Thompson in which I don't want any part of that discussion.
I think that lineup would work. I wonder if they value Klay more then AI. I wouldn't mind going with AI instead knowing that we will need to go FA hunting to repalce him and Lee in the future.

Yuck. Thompson's youth + fit with Rubio > Iggy's age + durability problems. You're making that trade with GS even worse by taking Iggy instead of Thompson.
