Good question, world. As things stand now and assuming that Flip doesn't hire his coach-in-waiting to be his #1 assistant, I think it will be Lowe. As I have said a couple times on this board, we know Sidney is a terrible PG and an unsuccessful HC, but there has to be a reason he always seems to be able to find an assistant job...tells me he is well respected as an assistant coach. And that combined with Flip's long history of working with him puts him in the lead role ahead of Mitchell.
I'm still not giving up on Blatt though. Rumors have him either going to Cleveland as a HC (if offered) or GS as an assistant. The Warrior's job doesn't make any sense for a guy of his age who says he wants to be a HC, because I'm sure Kerr plans to be there awhile. So if Cleveland doesn't offer him the HC job, Flip might offer him a position of Assistant Head Coach (lead assistant) and HC-in -waiting, which I think Blatt would find more attractive than the GS job.

If Blatt doesn't get a HC job, I'd bet he stays overseas. I don't think he's interested in being an assistant at all.

Do you think bobby jackson will be retain as player development coach? I was hoping we keep both sikma and dave adelman, it seems unlikely now to keep both but i hope we could keep one.
I don't think the lead assistant matter that much really uness Flip has to be away from the team for any significant time that would be unexpected for pretty much any coach.
I am pretty Sure Bobby Jackson came in under Flip last uyear. So I expect him to be around. David Adelman has another year on his contract so unless he looks for another job he should be doing something for the Wolves.
One comment on these country club hires of assistants. These guys are absolutey well qualified guys. Its not like we are hiring some ridiculous out of nowhere hires or something. Ryan Saunders NBA bio even looks pretty decent but if you want to rip that one that's fine. Lol

Sidney lowe is qualified because he's had a job all these years? Come on. Every team he's been with has been a bad team.
Isn't flips system based on jump shooting? Flip's teams never really got much free throws. That's pretty much the opposite of what he has now. These wolves live on the FT line and have no shooters.

Spot on, again, alex...every team that Sidney has been with has been "bad".
2005-6 Detroit Pistons: Head Coach-Flip Saunders
Assistant coach- Sidney Lowe
Record- 64-18
I assume you are using the word "bad" in the urban sense.
Here's to hoping Flip and Sidney's team is as "bad" as the last time they teamed up!

Ha alright, yes that one year where he got to join a team that went to the finals twice. That was all Sidney!

We don't know enough about Sidney's contributions to that team to know how much he had to do with it. Maybe not much, but how many assistant coaches have a major impact on their teams? That's why I can't get too bent out of shape about Flip's choices for assistant coach. I do find it encouraging though to see the results of the last time they paired up...pretty impressive.
I got a chuckle about your take that Sidney "joined a team" that got to the finals. Assuming the coaches had nothing to do with the success of the team reminds me of Tim McCarver's great tongue-in-cheek quote about Bob Gibson. "He's the luckiest pitcher in baseball. He always pitches on the day the other team doesn't score any runs!".

Or you could say Flip and company took a team that went to back to back finals, and never got back there. Pretty much fell apart after then when one of your best players calls you the the biggest coward hes ever seen.

It seems plain as day to me that Flip is coaching to get things stabilized and then turn the reigns over to Mitchell, who will of course retain Sidney Lowe as an assistant.
We better win. Otherwise I could lose interest very fast...

Well its official Mitchell is officially in as an assistant. I really don't get the sense he is the guy Flip is planning to turn things over to though. Honestly there is too much uncertainty about the team right now to speculate who the next coach is. Besides by the time Flip decides to quit coaching who know who might be available.
