Edwards shooting has been abysmal. But I do hope the last few games better represent his abilities because the numbers before that were rendering him unplayable. Unplayable on a professional team I meant, not on the Timberwolves.

Ya the Timberwolves PR just sent out that Edwards has scored more then 15 pts in the last 4 games while shooting 44% from 3. I hope he becomes a stud because the Wolves need it.

I agree with both of you. This franchise really needs Edwards to emerge as a budding star. I know it will take time given his age and inexperience, but his poor shooting with the Wolves before the past few games, coming on the heels of his poor shooting college, were troubling. I just want to see him on the right trajectory and I'm encouraged by his past few games.

I don't care about scoring. I think it's pretty clear Edwards can be a 20 ppg scorer. 25+ ppg scorer.
It's about efficiency. It's about all the other stuff... passing, rebounding, defense, moving the ball, et al... you know... playing smart, winning basketball.
Anybody else frightened that the Wolves have arguably the most efficient shooting big man in NBA history... and it's conceivable he'll only be 4th in shot attempts on this team?
There are moments in almost every game when Russell, Beasley or Edwards will take a shot without passing the ball... coincidentally after a spell where they haven't gotten a shot for a few minutes.
It's a basketball pet peeve of mine.

Speaking of "doing the other stuff", the Real Plus-Minus stat from ESPN recently got updated. I know this can be a bit wonky stat at times, but after you remove some outliers, 80% of it passes the sniff test.
Of 98 shooting guards ranked on defensive real plus-minus, here are the bottom 5:
94. D'Angelo Russell
95. Mason Jones
96. Anthony Edwards
97. Zach LaVine
98. James Harden
I know they have DLO as a SG, which by itself is a bit wonky, but can anyone argue with the results here? Not surprised to see Zach and Harden on this list too!

Two guys that we drafted in the lottery, plus one that we acquired by giving up a first round pick plus a guy who is contributing to the Warriors. Ladies and gentlemen...YOUR MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the updated stats, Q. His numbers put him in elite company. It would be interesting to see the 0-3 feet stats of those other guys in their rookie seasons.
