I hope he doesn't forget how to shoot the 3 when he gets here. It always seems to be the case or guys leave and figure it out. Is it the cold winters?

Yes, it's a disturbing trend. Rudez and Daniels were our two latest incarnations of 3-point specialists that suddenly froze up once in a Timberwolves uniform. Of course Daniels moves onto Charlotte and proceeds to hit 47% of his 3's and Rudez seemed to have no problem hitting 3's at Indiana before coming to us. I'm sure he'll be lights-out wherever he goes next....

I am convinced it's because we rarely (ever?) had a system that encourages taking 3s. If it is not part of your regular arsenal, it's tough to be good at it. Thibs has mentioned the value of 3s, so hopefully we see a bump in many of our players three point accuracy (and volume).

Q I think the real question with those guys is more about why they weren't valued more (or just how they weren't utilized) particularly Daniels. Their shooting percentages are in a small amount of games so I don't think they are great examples of the Wolves withering 3 point percentage but I suppose it helps that narrative. :)
Daniels was here for 19 games. He played about the same amount of games in Houston (3 point happy as you can get) that year and shot near the same percentage from 3. It really seemed weird when we moved on from him so quickly.
Rudez played in 33 games and averaged just over 8 mpg. That's a tough sample to draw much of anything from for a bench guy. I get why Rudez didn't play. He wasn't in the future plans.
The bottom line is that it's a new day in MN. Let's hope the new people running this thing do more in some way or another to help the 3 point shot thrive instead of whither.

Excellent value signing. Some if us wanter rush and thought it would take 7-8m at least in a 2-3yr deal to get him in this crazy free agency. 3.5m is a bargain. It looks like rush is betting on himself as well as he only took a 1 yr deal. We needed a 3 and d guy and that is what rush is.

So the roster is currently
Rubio/Dunn/Tyus
LaVine/Rush
Wiggins/Bazz
Dieng/Belly/Payne/ --- KG?
KAT/Cole/Pek
14 under contract. Room for one more - unless KG hangs it up. I'd be fine just rolling into the preseason and have prospective players compete there. Otherwise keep your eyes open for teams trading players for space (and maybe try and give Payne away)

This is a good signing...one of the most reliable 3-point shooters in the league. I like him backing up Zach, not so much backing up Wig...we don't need another poor rebounder at SF.
My one issue with this signing is this. Rush has always been a guy who can knock down the open three, but has never been very good at creating his own shot. I don't see him pairing up with an average and unproven distributor like Dunn...seems like he would work out better next to a PG more proficient at getting open looks for his teammates like Ricky or Tyus. We'll have to see how Thibs works his rotations, but if Dunn and Rush are on the court 12-15 minutes apiece, I hope that the majority of those minutes are not together.

I am a big Jayhawk fan and the wolves are trying to bring the national championship team back together I mean Chalmers and Kahn are still out there this go get them and let me relive the championship.
In all serious I like rush, he was an above average role player before his injuries, This will be his second full year after the ACL tear and I hope he can bring back some good defensive with him. He is not the same defensively but he is not a liability out there. Overall I like the signing nothing to earth shattering but no real risk involved for adding a solid player.

LST those are some worthwhile thoughts. One article I read today (not sure at what point of the season it was written) said Rush was really starting to click with GS offense this year using setting screens etc. if that's the case I think he can get open for shots and guys can make a basic pass to him if he is open. Really just having a guy like that teams have to honor probably will help.

I'd like to see another capable wing. It's arguably the most valuable position in the league today. And versatility helps.
Unfortunately, the Wolves are pretty one-dimensional at the wings. We all know about Wiggins and LaVine's promise... but versatility is not their calling card.
Well, unless you compare them to their backups...
