Say Rose continues to play well, while he is a good story getting the rights to Rozier for the next 5 years might be worth trading a protected 2020 pick with Rose. Also worth noting if Teague were to opt out, we would have around 18 million minus any rookie contracts to bring in a piece in free agency.
I'm down on Tyus Jones right now I think everyone is but I would like to see some more games where this is a team that doesn't have the Butler thing hanging over it. I have doubts we are turning down offers of 1st round picks for him. The ironic thing is we are worried more about his offense not his defense at this point. Who saw that coming?
I am down right disgusted with he his O and D. I am tired of watching him running back to the baseline rather than picking up an opponent, which results in a wide open 3 in transition. I am tired of him forcing shots that he has no business taking. Phoenix was rumored to be offering up their 2nd rounder for him. I would jump at that right now.
Count me among the opTIMists on our roster makeover.
Removing Butler from the equation will remove the dark cloud hanging over everyone. Thibs has shown he can adjust with our pace and 3-point shooting. KAT has shown a commitment to defense. And Wiggins has shown a 3-point shooting improvement.
Covington brings defense and 3-point shooting. He lacks some of Jimmy's offensive skills, but we ought to have enough on offense to replace what Jimmy brought (hopefully not the ISO crap). Saric adds depth in the front court. I wonder if this might lead to less minutes for Dieng?
I am interested to see what the rotation looks like once everyone is back and healthy. Does Teague continue to start? Where does Saric fit in? Does Okogie still see minutes? Who loses out in a crowded frontcourt?
While it has been a rough start to the season, it is far too early to write off this team's playoff hopes.
I think Tolliver loses out to Saric and Jones loses out to Rose once Teague is healthy. I love Tyus and had high hopes for him this year, but he has been terrible finishing around the paint. He's gotta find a way to either draw fouls or hit some of those shots otherwise he is really going to struggle to find a more lucrative second contract.
Butler was causing more harm then good. I do think that the Wolves will improve once the new guys gel a bit. Give them a couple months and they will probably be playing .500 ball. Unfortunately it will kill our draft stock.

Well, look at the bright side. We still have Thibs! I'm sure he'll find a way to ruin Saric's confidence and turn Covington into a 25% shooter from 3. So I wouldn't rule out the high lottery quite yet.

I see our PG situation differently. I think Rose is now the starter, and provided good health will be for the foreseeable future. I see Teague seeing that handwriting and not opting in next year. So at least until we acquire another PG, we need Tyus as the backup. Thibs is stupid enough to play Rose 35 minutes per night, so he probably won't stay healthy. But I really see him being the starter until health takes him out of the lineup. A lineup of Rose, Wig, Covington, Saric, and Towns is pretty damn good in my opinion.
The overhaul isn't over until Thibs is gone and we trade Rose, Taj and Teague. I don't have a lot of faith in Glenn firing Thibs until we are mathematically out of the playoff hunt or after the season, but if we can replicate Wittman's 4-15 pre-firing start we got a chance. Can we pull off 6 more losses in a row?
