I wouldn't say that they have underachieved since they have won twice Eurobasket, got 2nd in Olympics and once 3rd in Eurobasket and Olympics in last 6 years unless you thought that Spain should have beaten US.

Their only real failure in last couple of years was being placed 5th in World cup that was organized in Spain and even there they lost only one game but it was quarter final against France. In these international tournaments it is inevitable that sometimes even great teams lose a game and if they lose it wrong time, it can affect team final position a lot.

I think Russia have been much bigger underachiever in last couple of years.

Me too. I really do. I hope the Jazz lose to us in the playoffs.

Ok maybe you are right. I think I'm at least one of those tournaments they were just sort of scuffling through but they came through and finished. It just feels like their team should perform better than they do. I agree any team can have a down game.

It seems that quite many good teams may struggle in group phase since losing a game there doesn't typically mean much. So it's true that Spain has had some ugly games when they have being trying to get playoff phase but typically they have been performing really well in games that matter. They have just couple of close losses in semi finals. Typically opponent has been France, which roster has been in quite same level than Spain has had.

2014 World cup and yesterdays Slovenia losses have been their only lop side losses and 2014 game was pretty tight but since Spain had total collapse in 2nd half, I think it counts them underachieving.

Slovenia has been really good this tournament and they shot yesterday really well behind three point line. Anthony Randolph shot three pointers 3/3 with at least one of them being of the dribble hand in his face shot. Dragic banked one in and Slovenian shooting guard Prepelic hit one from Stephen Curry distance. So even last night's game could have been easily tighter than it was.

Thanks for the reports. I'm pretty sure you watch a lot more of these games than I do. :) With Abrines out does Spain have any worthwhile wings?
