Boston would need to make some moves to open the space to sign Hayward. I would love to give them the OKC pick for someone like a Rozier.
I would give up the pick for Smart, less inclined to for Rozier.
Me too, Future. But I don't think we have the cap room to take on Smart's $4.5 million salary next season. I'm not sure exactly how much cap room we have now, but based on what I've seen, it's south of $4 million even after renouncing Bazz. So Rozier is the next best thing. He's young, strong and has 2 years left on a very cheap rookie deal. Thibs and Layden better be all over this one. I think we have a second round pick next year (now our own) that we could give in return.
Even if we could afford Smart, they'll cut Rozier instead.
Rozier's a better player than his stats suggest. When that guy played last year, good things happened. But his shooting stats in particular are pretty bad and remember, 28 other teams are keeping an eye on how they can take advantage of situations like this too.

But do you really think Thibs is going to add anything other than a grizzled vet?
I expect the focus to be completely on flushing out the "rotation" roster, which likely means a backup PG and two wings. Maybe after that is complete he will ponder how to add depth to the roster.
Rozier has played in 22 playoff games so that's a bit of grizzling. Lol

Boston fans seem to have less favorable opinions of Rozier than other NBA fans.
Personally, I think the guy is "fine." Certainly somebody who should be in the rotation on a team like the Wolves.

Ok now it's official Hayward to Boston.

Finally someone goes east. Sorry Rubio. Does Utah have any cap space to sign someone now?

The first blurb I saw was max offer to Otto Porter. Figures...

Class act, great article. Hayward seems like a very well grounded athlete.
Well, it's nice to see someone FINALLY go east. I really feel bad for Ricky, but the Wolves really needed another team in the West to take a hit given all the other ones that are getting better (OKC, Denver, Houston, Sacramento).

I'd be beyond livid if we traded Rubio just to ultimately wind up with Smart on the team. That would just prove it was never about Ricky's shooting.

I don't think Hayward moves the needle for them. He seems like a good, but not great player. I am kind of surprised by the money being thrown at Porter. We are going to need to lock up Wiggins.

The biggest issue they had in the playoffs besides the injury, was scoring. It should be interesting.
