Does this put Westbrook on the trade market?

Where does Russell end up next offseason?

How long before OKC is the worst team in the West?

I'm not one who believes Durant makes the Warriors that much better. They already shoot as many threes as possible. Durant will just take shots from Curry and Klay.

If OKC is smart, they'll look to move Westbrook now. They need to get something for him while they can. LA has a ton of assets, as does Boston. Blow it up and rebuild. You already got great value for Ibaka, you should be able to get a kings ransom for Westbrook. Take advantage.

I agree, they can't lose Russell for nothing. A few teams could make plays that would make sense. I'd offer Dunn, Ricky, and Gorgui for him.

Not for a one year rental. Westbrook has to commit to us long term for me to even consider it. I don't want to lose 3 good players for a rental and we can't beat GS next year anyway.

Of course not for a rental. It doesn't matter, I see him forcing his way to the Lakers.

I have always liked Durant, but this is the ultimate sell out move. You were 3 mins from besting that team who didn't even win the finals. They were getting worse this offseason, or at least stalemating, while OKC got better. Durant wants to ride the coat tails rather than carry the team I guess.

Stern blocked the CP3 trade to Lakers, does Silver have any grounds to block this move (say for anticompetive reasons)?

I don't see how he can as Durant was an unrestricted free agent. A trade you can say isn't fair but you can't tell a man that he signed for too little, etc.

I would think they will push to lock Westbrook up now if possible.

Good luck with that.

You guys do realize Steph and Klay are lethal spot up shooters so all you have to do is PnR Durant and Draymond and have him kick out to those two to crush people. They got significantly better with this move because they had nobody in the finals or WCF who could successfully attack the bucket off the dribble and length ain't bothering Durant at the rim. If depth mattered that much they would have beat Cleveland because they had significantly better depth, but they lost. You may not like it, but it's a move they needed to make to make to be able play both the old school way of beating your opponent off the dribble in the playoffs and the new school of beating them from behind the arc to breeze through the regular season.

Yeah I don't like it either from any standpoint (GS, fans, league and of course OKC). 26 mill to not improve the team much if at all. bye bye depth and long term success.

I don't love the fit but there is no denying how good that starting 5 will be with curry, Klay, Durant, and green. You simply cannot guard 3 of the best 3pt shooters at the same time, especially when tgey all can get a shot off whenever and wherever they want.

It's hard to win if you lose most of your bench which was a big key to their success. The Heat struggled despite two top 5 two way players too. Granted the did win.

I think the league can block trades, but I don't think there is any mechanism to block free agent moves.

This isn't going to be popular here, but I have no problem with Durant choosing to go wherever he wants. He's earned his free agent status, he gave the Thunder everything he had, and he handled his free agency with class. I don't begrudge anybody for making the best choice for them.

For the Warriors, their depth was the key for their success. This move depletes that. There is only one ball and three guys that will need it. I don't think this is a good team move. I know everyone will disagree, but I don't think the big three dynamic is a good one, unless the third wheel in the big 3 is a unselfish player who creates, rebounds, and defends at a high level.

Yeah I don't like it either from any standpoint (GS, fans, league and of course OKC). 26 mill to not improve the team much if at all. bye bye depth and long term success.

Yeah, there is only one ball though. Injuries also happen and you'll need depth. They traded their depth for another superstar. Foolish move.

I'm on this boat. Good for him.

He has the right to, but he took the cowards route to a title. As a competitor I have no respect for him now. For the league as a whole super teams are harmful to it.
