Simmons is a 6'10 power forward with guard-like passing ability, a surpreme handle that is not often found by bigs, an efficient volume scorer and above average rebounder. He's being compared to guys like LeBron James because that package isn't often found. (I think he's more Blake Griffin than LeBron, but you get the point.)
Hield would no doubt solidify himself as a top notch prospect and in consideration for the top overall pick if he was 19-years old and setting the college game on fire like he has this year, but he does not beat out the two others I talked about already, in my opinion. The other two bring more versatility to their game and a more physically imposing body with them.
It's a very interesting hypothetical considering how polished Buddy is right now (and was that finished product both in his ability to play even defensively and his physical body as a 19 year old freshman) but if you were a team sitting there at #3 pick in the draft in this scenario you would have to be feeling really good. :)
The funny thing is... Jamal Murray is going to be there for some team at No. 3 and he's been damn good this year himself. He's current Buddy-lite at age 19 with room to improve. Still a really attractive option.
Yeah I agree with you. It's the draft so it's easy to fall in love with prospects but there are some good prospects in this draft whether or not they turn out...we will see. Hopefully the Wolves can get a nice player.

So, if that's really what you believe, then you'd also take Hield as a senior at No. 1 this year too. You think he's the sure thing. You fine with going on record that you'd take Hield over Ingram and Simmons?

I think Bizarro Jerry unlocked the draft strategy of David Kahn which was who looked good in a pair of jeans. It explains a lot.

Maybe he just really had a thing for the color orange.
Yes Cam if you want me to "go on record" than yes, you can do that if you'd like. I know you prefer the freshman, and I admit to not seeing much of Ingram or Simmons, but I don't buy the argument that some say seniors can't improve in the NBA.
Monster, i stole that from Billy Beane in Moneyball. Great movie, but the book was fantastic.
It will always be difficult for a slightly below average to average sized SG to go #1 in a draft, regardless of age or numbers, UNLESS that player is projected to have the handles and floor vision to play PG.
Still.....I hear where Jerry is coming from. When you have a guy putting up those kinds of numbers against elite competition (go look at what he did against Kansas earlier in the year too), I view it as fulfilled potential as opposed to just potential.

Yeah I can buy that argument for moving him down, but it just seems like he's gonna be a stud. I mentioned a few weeks ago how I thought he had decent handles and could play the point, but not many others agreed.

"A Clockwork Orange"?
Jerry I'll have to read the book and watch Moneyball sometime.
Ok, now that we have that out of the way... what a shooter. Damn. And as mentioned, these aren't just wide-open looks. The step-back threes have been more than impressive.
Watching him and Villanova play almost make up for my disappointment that all-time nice guy, J. Boeheim is in another Final Four.
