I think we should have more threads, actually. I think it would lead to more focused, thorough discussion. I don't like the speculative stuff, but it's interesting to hear guys analyze these players and our team.

I wish we had a thread on each of these prospects in which we weren't consistently comparing him to one other guy. That sort of thread too often turns into a fight. A Bender thread of that sort could be useful. He's an interesting player with a unique skill set and a lot of question marks. What do you guys think of him?

Until he proves otherwise, there is simply too little to go on for my liking. Again, the success of KP has made people forget the lack of success these Euro's typically have upon arrival to the NBA. "Intriguing skillset"....I suppose. But only if he gets stronger, becomes a better shooter, transitions well to the NBA game and learns to defend. Lot's of "ifs". I prefer to go elsewhere.

Here's a well balanced article about what he brings to the table and what he needs to work on: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/5/19/11711150/dragan-bender-nba-draft-2016-boston-celtics-phoenix-suns

The defensive potential is why I like him so much. A 7 footer who may have the quickness to defend 5 positions through switching combined with Towns' ability to switch and guard anyone would make for a defensive monster of a frontcourt.

Who was the last flame out euro? I'd say was Jan Vesley in 2011 but that was a pretty good international player draft especiallly the first round. I think there is much more success of international players than there was 10+ years ago because the game worldwide has grown a lot. It's easy to think about the Darkos the Skita and those guys that were basically worthless but soft euros aren't a joke anymore. I'm not suggesting Bender is gonna be good or a no-brainier pick but I think we shouldn't dismiss the guy either. He has a lot of skill for a legit 7' that seems to care a lot about playing the game.
