That's what it would take to even have Atlanta not hang up the phone on you. You guys really overvalue Dieng and Bazz and really undervalue how good Millsap was this year and has been for the last three years if you think they are getting the better end of the deal.

I like Milsap, but....just....wow.
I guess it depends on what the team thinks of Dieng. Do they see him as a long-term guy beyond the last year of his contract and more importantly, want to pay that premium for him?
If not... then both he and Muhammad are expendable to varying degrees.
Rubio would be the "big get" for Atlanta and him and Schroeder in the backcourt would be goofy but kinda cool. That would be assuming Teague gets moved somewhere too.

I don't see Rubio, Dieng, and Muhammad being enough to get Millsap, honestly. You'd probably have to throw in the No. 5 pick and at that point, I think I step away.
Edit: They'd likely demand LaVine, Dieng, and No. 5.

This trade ain't happening but I'll comment anyway
Millsap is a really good player (always been one of my favorite guys in the league) but he is 31 and has a player option after the upcoming season.

Bigs can typically stay effective longer in their careers than guards or wings because they don't rely on athleticism as heavily. He's got one big contract left which fits our arc of wanting to keep Wiggins, Lavine and Towns together.

But will he resign here? Probably but I'd be worried about ending up with him for one year. Doesn't matter it won't happen. Like Cam said that package is probably not good enough to get him away from Atlanta because the guy really is such a good player but for the Wolves it's giving up a lot at the point they are at. Sign a vet PF this offseason with cap space don't trade away players to get a player even though Millsap is better than any PF we are likely to get in FA.

17/9/3 stretch 4 who made 2nd team all-NBA defense. He's the perfect fit on this team.
Yes, I like him, but a) Atlanta probably doesn't do it, and b) it fills one hole for us while opening up a gaping hole at PG and also compromising our depth....all for a guy that is 31. I get that bigs tend to have a longer shelf life in the league, but he is not a conventional big man. He relies on quickness and athleticism as opposed to length, strength, and positioning (like Duncan for example).

And to add one more thing. Jim Pete was very complementary toward Rubio during that interview but during the telecasts he wasn't scared to talk about Ricky's weaknesses.
I think what they are saying is that Dunn would have to be really, really good to be able to win the job from Ricky as a rookie and would be an almost automatic ROY. Now go ask them if they think he's actually going to be that good and what the odds are of him outplaying Ricky as a rookie. I think you'll get a different answer than what you are inferring.
This.

First of all, much of this seems like rumor and conjecture. But if it is true that Thibs would be willing to entertain the possibility of Dunn becoming the starter and thus replace Rubio, this might not be such a crazy-dramatic thing that we're talking about (and nobody's even mentioned Tyus).
1. If we draft Dunn, he'd still have to beat out Ricky for the starting spot which could take awhile.
2. Even if he did beat out Ricky, does that mean Ricky is definitely gone? We've always talked about wanting to have very good players come off the bench. If Ricky would be willing to accept being a super backup-PG on a--hopefully--playoff team (and something about him tells me he might), keeping him might make sense.
3. Again, assuming all this actually happens and Dunn actually turns out to be good enough to start, it makes sense from a financial perspective in the short term to essentially replace Ricky with Dunn.
4. Critics of the potential Dunn pick seem to point somewhat in two opposite directions--1) either he's a defensive non-shooter like Ricky so he isn't an upgrade or 2) he's a shooter when we've already got enough scoring from other players. This generalizes a bit, but it can't really be both.
To me, Dunn might make sense because he seems to be able to play a little on both sides of the ball, and everybody needs more players like that. Rubio's a good defender, passer, and leader generally. But he really is a liability scoring. Adding a guy who can also play defense, but who can score more (especially if his outside shooting turns out to be pretty decent) is a good thing.
To those who say we already have enough scoring, yes, but some of it, Wiggins in particular, is kind of inefficient. I'd actually LIKE to see somebody take some of the scoring load off Wiggins so he can improve his efficiency and focus on defense.
Dunn seems to have some leadership qualities, though it would be tough to replace what Ricky brings.
In terms of passing, Dunn isn't as prolific as Rubio, but in a weird way, that might actually be a good thing. It could force the other players to step up their games a little bit in terms of passing, and a team that collects assists from multiple players on the floor is more dangerous that one in which one player, like Rubio, racks up the majority of them. LaVine showed enough ability to pass that I'm sure he can keep his focus on scoring while still looking to move the ball more within a system of plays. Running the offense through Towns and Gorgui more too actually makes sense, given they can pass pretty well too. And Bjelica is out there too. So I think losing Ricky's passing as a starter a little bit could actually help us step up our TEAM passing, if that makes sense.
I still kind of think Hield makes more sense because of his 3 point shooting. But two-way players are great to have and give a team a lot of flexibility, and Dunn looks like he could provide that. He certainly LOOKS like an NBA player in his highlights. The question is, can he produce efficiently at the next level?
