Hmm... Zgoda says in today's "Wolves Daily Video" that Flip pulled D-Will aside after practice and talked to him for awhile, encouraging him to embrace his role and continue learning both forward positions.

I don't know how much Zgoda "inferred" his info, or how whether he was told the info. But if the info is correct, is it possible D-Will is not even in the rotation tomorrow night?!?

Unfortunately, it's very possible. Rubio, Martin, Brewer, Love, Pek, Barea, Cunningham, Shved, Hummel, Turiaf. That could very well be the 10-man rotation with D-Will left out. Ugh.

Likely that is the case. I honestly think D-Will would have more value as an expiring contract at this point then as an asset.

Yeah, that seems to be the question: whether he starts or comes off the bench, who is the 10th player in the 10-man rotation? Hummel or D-Will?

And once Bud returns...

I have a hard time believing that D-Will won't be a part of the 9 or 10-man rotation. While he certainly hasn't lived up to his potential, he absolutely has a role to play on this team as a second unit scorer/rebounder. Hummel may have a better instinct for Adelman's system than D-Will, but that doesn't make him an overall more effective player. Now if he starts knocking down 3's at a 40%+ clip, then that's a game-changer. But through Summer League and pre-season, he hasn't shown any consistent outside touch yet.

I agree with everything you said. Though, I like Hummel a lot and hope he thrives in his role, whatever that might be.

It is about the best 5 players as a unit on the floor. Not the best 5 players on the floor. I think Adelman going to want Pekovic or Love on the floor at all times I'm not sure how D-Will fits in coming off the bench with those guys.

Why wouldn't he fit in? He can get minutes at the 4 with either Pek or Love at Center. While Love starts as a 4, he has traditionally played nearly as many minutes as a 5 because teams tend to go small in the 2nd and 4th quarters. And there are some matchups where he can play 3 with the other two guys on the floor. His real competition for minutes, as it was last year, is Dante Cunningham. I suspect that between injuries and matchups, D-Will will be a regular part of the rotation unless he just completely falls apart.

Because I think he needs the ball on Offense and I would rather have it in Love, Martins, or Peks hands. JJ can be the spark plug off the bench. So what is his role?

You need more than one offensive option in your second unit. Williams will get significant playing time. It doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't. I just hope that he continues his trend from last year of trying to make the most of those minutes with good decisions.
