Yeah, you did kind of get me going, BBTT! After I posted my thoughts about Stockton/Malone, I googled dirtiest NBA players of all time, and Stockton and Malone appeared on most of the lists. Rodman and Bruce Bowen (I was courtside for the game where Bowen unbelievably kicked Wally in the face...athletic move, but dirty!) are well represented, along with three players with Wolves' connections: Garnett, Laettner and Laimbeer. I agree with all these selections. I'm happy that having disposed of Steamer, the current Wolves have no players that I would describe as "dirty players"...no room for that in the game.

LST, I agree that Stockton was one of the dirtiest players. I`m not sure about Karl Melone but Iwon`t argue with season ticket holder back then.

I`ll add Metta World Peace (Ron Artest) and Matt Barnes to your dirtiest N.B.A. player list. I think there is a place there also for Charles Oakley. I also remember Bill Cartwright that didn`t keep his elbows to himself (you can ask Hakeem olajuwon).

BizarroJerry wrote:Matty, since you're a big Stockton fan, doesn't this team remind you of a more up-tempo Stockton/Malone Jazz team with Rubio/Love and Co.? I don't think that team had any other great players.

The only similarities is the positions of core players.

Stockton was a great passer as is Rubio, but what made Stockton great was his ability to knock down outside shots. The guy averaged 51% shooting from the field during his 19 year career. That is fricking amazing for a 6' 1" PG. I don't see Rubio getting anywhere close to those numbers. Rubio probably will become the better defender of the two due to his length and anticipation skills. Both have a similar passion for the game and lead from the front.

At the end of the day Rubio needs to become a better shooter to even be in the same dicussion as John Stockton.

I liked Malone until he sold out and went to the Fakers with Payton to try and savage a ring. I guess you can compare his scoring and rebounding to Love, but Malone was a bruiser where as Love is more of a finesse type player.

Unfortunately like I mentioned earlier, I wasn't able to watch a lot of the greats in the 80s/early 90s. All I can go by is YouTube games and highlights. If I had to say, my favorite player watching is Scottie Pippen. His "Power and Grace" videos are absolutely brilliant and some of the best highlights of a player I've seen. If you get a chance, check em out. I believe there are a total of three. He did so many things well on the court, its pretty amazing to see. His footwork is a thing of beauty too. If only Wes could've been a clone of Pippen...

As long as Kevin Love doesn't stomp any more Scolas lol.

We're gonna be a really physical team in my opinion. Should be clean contact, though! We have the Bruise Brothers :D

Favorite Wolves: Ricky Rubio

Favorite NBA: I'd probably have to go with Durant or KG. Still a huge KG fan.

Favorite of all time: has to be MJ for me

Favorite to never play in the NBA: Early, The Goat Manigault, MAN I would love to be able to watch game tape of this guy in the NBA.

So many ways to pick "our" favorite NBA player. So here are mine.

Favorite player if it's a....

...older guy: MJ and Magic.
...a current player: Lebron and DRose.
...Wolves player (past): Garnett.
...Wolves player (current): Rubio.
...guy I like to not suceed (LOL): Kobe.
...tough guy: Anthony Mason.

...and the list is goes on. At the end of the day. It's who would I pay to watch because of his energy, what he brings to the team, his public image---the whole package. It's gotta be Lebron.

Much criticized for this move down to South Beach. But after 2 championships, who can argue that move except the manner it was done. Big expectations and he filled them. Let's hope our very own boy wonder (Rubio) can get somewhere near that lofty expectations he carried him over from Spain.

Alltime - Julius Erving (He lifted the game off the floor). I loved watching Gervin play as well. MJ was so dominant, but I never felt like he was in the flow the way Erving was.
Today-Durant
Favorite Wolf: Love

I too need to make a comment on Stockton/Malone as they were filthy dirty players. Malone would go knee first into a player as hard as he could and no player got withing 4 feet of Stockton without getting an unnecessary elbow. I hated them (of course I would have loved them on my team).
