Waiters also gives us higher potential than Martin. Younger and has the potential to be more-skilled. Martin's the better shooter. Waiters is an underrated passer. More athletic than Martin. Not sure about his defense, but I'd assume better than Martin's. Like Lip said, he'd bring dribble penetration. We need some of that. CJ Miles on top of it would be really nice for us. Always respected his game off the bench.

Brandon Rush couldn't possibly cost us much

Anybody think it's impossible to shed some contracts and sign Luol Deng in the off-season? Find a way to lose Budinger and MaM. Sign Deng and pick up a cheap vet PF. Have Brewer off the bench. Deng doesn't sound happy in Cleveland.

It's leaking that Jared Dudley might become available. Doubt we could make a deal, but would we be interested anyway?

It might depend on where the team is headed. On a team battling for the playoffs... I like Martin. On a team in ANOTHER rebuild... Martin does nothing for me and that contract looks worse in worse when looking ahead.

And which direction this team heads is entirely up to the decision its best player makes within the next 18 months or so.

I also don't see why Cleveland wants Martin because he and Irving would be an all-time bad defensive pairing at the guard spots. Anybody could get to the basket at will against those two. They would get obliterated and the offensive production wouldn't be high enough in my opinion to make up for the defensive shortcomings.

I think they would love to have him and help fix the culture they have. They have good defenders at Center and SF.

Thompson's not a poor defender either...

I think Cleveland would have a chance to get to the second round with Martin on that team. I think it would be a win for both teams.

Waiters would be a good basketball move. But I really think we have to be thinking bigger if the objective is to keep Love. We need to shoot for another star. Waiters just seems to another player that will end up getting overpaid to play here. Plus I don't think Waiters gives us more than Martin right now in terms of performance. Long term it would be better for us provided he isn't a total jerkoff.
