This is my least favorite argument. Well, he's our best and only option, so we can't talk about him negatively on a discussion forum.
It's always been assumed that Rubio's shooting would improve with time and practice. It hasn't yet. Right now, it's the most glaring weakness that will hold him and the team back from future success. It's okay to discuss it.
To me, the puzzling part of this is it doesn't appear as if they have even tried to fix his shooting. He has the same mechanics and arc on his shot since the day he got here. I think most (including myself) figured they would get a shooting coach to work with Ricky, but that doesnt' seem to be the case, or Ricky just doesn't have a great work ethic.
Maybe because everything else came so easy to him, he might be like Foye in that he loves playing ball, but not actually training on specific areas.

I'm told by someone who knows that Ricky's work ethic is tremendous and that he has been working tirelessly on his shot. Having seen every game so far this season, I can attest that he has definitely improved his shooting mechanics. His balance is better and his release point more consistent. He also gets better arc on his mid-range most of the time, but he has a tendency to revert to his old flat shot from time to time. It's not quite in his muscle memory yet.
