D Will has a 102.8 offensive rating and 116.9 defensive rating. That's worse than Robbie in both categories and he's on a better team than Robbie right now (Robbie is at 107.9 and 112.5). If your goal is to lose games by even more than we are now, be my guest and get D Will. We tried the whole get athletes who happen to play basketball strategy and it led to terrible teams under the Kahn regime. It's time to take the get basketball players which some happen to be athletes strategy instead as it just leads to a better/more consistent team. You mention that we would have the luxury of sitting D Will in games in which he doesn't have it. That is 90% of his games that you have to bench him because he does nothing. How is that better than Hummel who rarely warrants needing to get benched for bad play? You may hate Robbie, but in no way is D Will a better option on this team as he is just a worse basketball player and at the end of the day we are playing basketball and not running a combine. This thread is called SAC shopping D Will not T Wolves looking to dump Bud. If you want to dump Bud that is fine, but your argument is that it would be a good basketball move to trade Robbie and Bud for D Will couldn't be further from the truth in my mind.

Edit: Saw the last post. D Will has a -13.7 simple rating. How about you actually compare the players instead of just using the stats that work for your argument when the actual stats for both guys shows your argument is still wrong?

Reading comprehension is a good thing. Try reading my post rather than just a title next time.

So BB reference has him at 105/116 and according to 82games.com Robbie is a -20.3 versus his man, while DW is a -9.4 so I guess we will be winning games instead. Our horrible teams under Kahn had a lot more to do with injuries, than anything else. We looked like a PO team in Kahn's third season here until Ricky went down, and then the next season Love went down, and Pek seemed to be down most of the time.

You keep mentioning individual numbers and not how the team plays with that player. How is it possible that our team is getting destroyed with that 1 matchup, yet as a whole we are only a -6 with Robbie on the floor which is second to only Thad and Martin? D Will has a -9.4 versus his man, yet his team is almost a -17 with him on the court. Robbie is a better team player and that is why he can get beat by so much individually and yet as a team we are able to not get destroyed. Meanwhile D Will is doing better against his guy individually, yet his team is getting destroyed while he is on the court. Last I checked, this is a team sport so I don't see how giving up a team player for an individual player is going to positively affect the W column at all. You're automatically assuming better individual play is going to lead to better team play, but the stats in this case show the exact opposite.

Ok once again I think Robbie is twice the player Dwill is and I don't even think Robbie is that good. But another reason I don't want Dwill on this team is I don't want him to do to Wiggins and Lavine as Beasley did to Dwill and that is the I don't care attitude, and you will get by, by your athletic ability.

Kahn, the players around him are playing better than their counterparts would be my guess. I they doing that based on Robbie's elevating play? I highly doubt it.

I doubt Dwill is going to have any hold over guys like wiggins and lavine. He would be an end of bench player for the rest of the year, and then we would clear 5-6 mil off our salary, and open a roster spot. Don't really see a downside here.

I have zero interest in having D-Will back on our bench. Zero.

Even though you might be right you never know, what happens if Wiggins and Lavine like Dwill as a player and his bad habits rub off on those two players, I think that could happen and I don't think those things would be effected if Dwill plays or does not play. Also Once again I think Robbie is better, but I do understand on what you are trying to say when you want to get rid of Bud's contract, but Bud's contract could come off the books at the end of the year anyways with his players option.

There is no way Bud is not picking up his option. He won't see another contract where he could make that in two years with his level of (or lack thereof) production.

DWill didn't fail because of Beasley. He failed because of a significant lack of focus. Wiggins, Lavine, Shabazz and Dieng don't suffer from that. Did Rubio stop making an effort with Beasley on the team?

I think Bud will pick up his option, but does he want to sit on the bench for another year there is some professional pride there and I would bet he could get around 3 mil a year to come off the bench for a team. Also you are correct that Dwill did not fail because of Beasley but Dwill and Beasley were best friends on the team, who says WIggins and or Lavine or even bennett, won't become best friends with Dwill and stunt there growth. One thing I like with the wolves is I think they are moving to a pretty good culture and locker room and I would hate to put a guy like Dwill in that situation. Also you are right Dwill won't play for the wolves if he get here, but do you think he is going to help the wolves young guys get better in practice, how hard will it be for Wiggins to guard a guy like Dwill that just camps on the perimeter. At least Bud can simulate a knock down shooter in practice and still makes good basketball cuts, etc.. also Robbie is good because he is always in the right spot at the right time, so that will help with defensive rotation and offensive movement and spacing.

This thread is indicative of why this forum is so great (and maddening) at the same time.

It's a fairly in-depth, almost contentious discussion about the 10th and 11th men on one of the worst teams in the NBA.
