And Dozier leads off the game striking out on another breaking ball in the dirt. I hear your point, jester, about him having enough at bats that we know what he is, but sometimes scouting reports are faulty. It just seems like pitchers are starting to figure him out.

Dozier strikes out quite a bit. I think you are reading too much into something that isn't there. like I said the power for a middle infielder was even there his rookie year when he was overmatched. 300 abs he still had 6 HRs 11 doubles and a triple and he sucked at the plate. Dozier isn't stupid and their aren't going to be that many pitchers that have enough control to just throw him that stuff well enough to get him out at a scary rate.

To be fair everyone is striking out, we've 50 strikeouts in our last five games. That's 50/138 because of extra inning game that's 36% of our outs that's just crazy.

Huge trade day yesterday
Clippers traded to the Mets
Victorino to the angles
And then the bombshell Tulo to the Blue Jays for Reyes and three prospects.
There some early reports that the Rockies are looking to flip Reyes now and they would eat most of his contract. Would you flip Meyer for Reyes? Reyes is signed through 2018 I believe.

Yeah, listening to LaVelle this morning, the Tulo thing was never going to happen for the Twins. Colorado wanted prospects plus current players, and the Twins were only willing to go prospects.
I say no on the Reyes question. He used to be a good defensive SS, but from 2009 to 2014, he ranked second to last in defense among 22 eligible SS's. If we are going to be a good playoff team, we can't have a bad defensive SS, and to me that rules out Santana and Reyes (and Nunez). I would rather go with an average defensive SS like Escobar, or look around (internally or externally) for a good field, no hit SS. How is Bernier defensively?
Bad news on Clippard...I thought we were in the running. Something is going to happen with the bullpen though. I think it will be a combination of things. One, trade Arcia for a pretty good 7th or 8th inning guy. And two, bring up either Duffey or Berrios to be the other 7th or 8th inning guy. I'm concerned that we may have to worry about Perkins too. Counting the All Star game, he has had three bad outings out of his last four, and we know from last year that he is susceptible to having a dead arm late in the season. Without a healthy Perkins, we're toast. It makes me wonder if Ryan might think really big, and give up several top prospects for Chapman. Would Stewart, Meyer, Arcia and Polanco be enough?

Reports are that were after Joaquin Benoit from the Padres to fill in that 8th inning slot.
I don't think those guys are even enough to get chapman, thought I heard they wanted 3 top prospects for him and a big league player. The only big trade the twins could make for a bat would be a Justin Upton or Gomez trade. Supposedly we've inquired on Justin Upton availability.
I would like to think we've called Milwaukee because they have three players I would like in Gomez, Segura and Lucroy. Doubt we get anyone of them though.

I thought this was interesting considering the Twins are looking for upgrades.

Good stuff, mp...thx for posting. Good to see Plouffe and Mauer rated so high, and Torii has been a pleasant surprise this year also. We know Santana and Suzuki are big defensive liabilities. But I think the Twins overall defense might be better than that article suggests, because Hicks and Rosario didn't have enough innings to qualify to be rated. With Escobar at SS and Fryer catching, I like our defense a lot.

I think I was most pleased seeing Mauer was doing a nice job at first. My guy Suzuki... Lol
I don't really have any solid info to base this on but with the trade deadline I think the Twins are looking to make moves but all things considered they aren't going to pay a high price because they are on the bubble now and I don't think they want to or should sacrifice too much youth to make a move. So they are looking to make a move but if a team has a high price they aren't paying it. My guess is they add a reliever and people will be disappointed. That's fine to me it comes down to wether guys that have played well so far play well and some other key guys like Suzuki or whoever is catching and whoever plays at SS etc can be more of a positive. If that doesn't happen I don't think a couple moves will matter. We will see what happens.

Not gonna lie guys mlb trade deadline day is one of my favorite days in sports. Twins are supposedly on Joaquin Benoit from the Padres and also looking to unload Nolasco on the Padres. Also I'm worried about dealing with the Rays for there bullpen guys, that team fleeces a lot of people out of good solid talent.
This is going to be intense 4 hours. Think about the Padres literally have 10 guys that other teams want on there teams.
