Shams Charania: Just In: Charlotte Hornets All-Star LaMelo Ball is finalizing a five-year designated maximum contract extension that is worth up to $260 million, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . 8 hours ago – via Twitter ShamsCharania
That’s a little over $50M per year. This is what Ant will get. I don’t know what the starting salary will be in 2024-25, but it’s got to be around $40M at least. Jaden likely starts around $30M. This news about LaMello’s max deal and other deals like Desmond Banes’ should put an end to the fantasy a few are clinging to that the Wolves can keep Rudy and KAT beyond next season. They can’t. Keeping them both for one more season just doesn’t make sense.
Just a heads up it’s up to 260 million. It’s great agent speak in this tweet. Ball has to make all nba to get the 260 million. Just like Ant.

Yep. According to The Athletic, LaMello Ball’s salary in the first year of his contract will likely be $37.4M. So we can obviously Ant’s salary under his max deal to start at the same amount. The more important news is Desmond Bane signing a max deal. He was picked after McDaniels. Yes, Bane has put up better numbers than Jaden, but Jaden’s extension will be more about the future than the past. After referring to Jaden and Ant as “joined at hip,” I don’t see Jaden getting significantly less than the max. If the max starts at $37.4, I have a hard time seeing Jaden getting paid less than $30 in the first year of his extension. If less, it won’t be much less. So Ant and Jaden will probably combine for at least $65M in the 2024-25 season. KAT and Rudy will combine for about $94M. As a result, those four players will add up to around $160M. Naz will make just under $14M that season and NAW will make around $5M. So that’s about $180M tied up in those six players with 9 roster spots to fill. It will be tight.

For all those Ty Ty Washington fans he is in Atlanta now. Houston paid 2nd round picks to dump him and Usman Garuba. Josh Christopher was moved to Memphis in a sign and trade for Brooks and they did get some 2nd rounders for K. Martin. The guy that brought the most value back was Martin the 52nd pick in the 2020 draft.

Houston lineup looking like:
C Sengun
PF Jabari Smith
SF Brooks/Tari Eason
SG Jalen Green
PG Fred VanVleet/Kevin Porter
It will be interesting to see how FVV and Brooks integrate with all the young guys. Udoka should get this team trending up, but I don't see them as a playoff contender yet.

You didn’t even add Thompson and Whitmore who were both projected to be top 10 picks this draft. Interesting team for sure

Build it and they will come?!?
In some ways that is what TC wants to turn the Wolves into: establish a winning culture, and then keeping it going becomes a bit easier.

The Suns might burn bright for one season, but they their star will fade quickly. And I’m not even sure how bright their star will shine next season. I like to come back to McHale’s comment that it’s not the five best players, but instead the five players who play best together. We’ll see how Beal, Booker and Durant fit together. We’ll see if Durant can stay healthy.

2 years 6 million for Eric Gordon for a team that wants to win now is a pretty good move. My guess is he turned down more money to sign there.
