Rudy's contribution is pretty clear. I've argued Conley should not be starting. The flaw with where he ranks in the net rating is he plays limited minutes, and much of those alongside Rudy, thus lifting his net rating compared to other players who don't play as high a percentage of their minutes with Rudy (I did not look up the number -- just the eye test).

It's almost like being a veteran presence helps, huh? It meets my eye test too...Ant and Ju are our high scorers and most visible and highest usage players, but as frustrated as I would get with his clumsiness, I felt that Rudy was our most important player this year. We were clearly were more competitive the last half of the season when he and Mike were on the court. And Jaden had a terrific playoffs overall. Mike started slowly this year and didn't score much all season, but he actually looked young and very effective to me on defense. And several times during the year I would see him directing teammates where to go on offense...our offense just clicks better when he is out there, even when he doesn't have the ball in his hands much with Ant and Ju so ball dominant. And we all should know what happens to our defense when Rudy sits. Rudy and Mike will continue to be great contributors next season, but they will not be when Ant hits his prime years. How TC moves on from Rudy and Mike will define how good we will be in 4-5 years.

Watching Bobby Marks he says both Ju and Naz opt in. Lack of cap space is the reason for other teams. Naz also is not a starter on a contender, his rebounding and defense are too poor, you don't pay a bench guy starter money. Both struggled in this last series, and Naz was getting iso exposed against Luka/LeBron and Jimmy. They just blew by him.

If someone want to pay him 20+ mill, I let him go, maybe do a sign and trade and get a guy you may value more back. Realistically he's a SF because of his lack of rebounding and rim protection/defense anyways. We got dudes who can step in.

Here are some dates that will affect the decision making process.
  • 6/25 and 6/26 is the Draft -- what TC comes out of the draft with may impact the NAZ and Randle decisions.
  • 6/28 -- NAZ becomes extension eligible. He avoided free agency last time with an early extension.
  • 6/29 -- Randle must make a decision on his player option (he is extension eligible now).
  • 6/29 -- Wolves must make decision on picking up team options on Garza and Minott.
  • 6/29 -- Wolves must make decision on extending 2-Way QOs to Newton and Jesse Edwards.
  • 6/30 -- NAZ must make a decision on his player option.
  • 6/30 -- Wolves must make decision on letting Miller's contract become guaranteed next season.
It's gonna be a busy end of the month!

I would imagine Tim is talking with both Naz and Randle and will know what the plan is for both before the draft.

Great, I hope he let's us in on it since this is a pretty exclusive and discreet board! Oh, you meant the other Tim, sorry....

60WinTim, thanks for the rundown with the dates. Busy end-of-June indeed! Question for you: If Randle and/or Naz pick up their player option, can they then be traded or is there some time lapse that has to happen prior to being included in a trade?

Ha, I had the same reaction!

I suggest that we refer to our board member as Tim, and our POBO as TC!

They can be traded as soon as they pick up their player option. An interesting twist is they can be traded on draft day IF then pick up their option before the draft. I suppose there is a scenario where the player and team work together to make something like that happen (although I do expect it here).

I just listened to Doogie on SKOR North. He is convinced NAZ is opting out and will re-sign with the Wolves for 30+ mil. I don't know where he is getting his info, but man, I just don't see that.

I think you have to take the training wheels off. Jaden and Ant are ready to be front runners leading this team. Our vets are too expensive and have problematic aspects of their game (Ju’s D and Rudy’s O) to be taking up that much of our cap. Id like to strip this team down to Ant, Jaden, our rookies, NAW, take a chance on a disgruntled young talent, and fill the rest of the roster with lunch pail guys.
