Itbseem D like the article kinda confirmed the idea that nobody better wants to sign here for the role they are likely to play which is a big reason why Bones may be the guy.

I decided to look at some stats and see why adding Bones makes some sense.

He has played quite a few games and over 3000 nba minutes and every team he has been on is a playoff team. He isn't just getting minutes on a tanking team. Just because a guy has NBA experience doesn't mean he will be worthwhile but it should be worth something compared to guys that have none or very little.

He is a combo guard with some passing skills and in general hasn't been a turnover machine.

He is a high volume 3 point shooter than has a career percentage ove just over 36% and he hasn't taken a whole lot of corner 3's.one thing this team has needed for years in 3 point shooting and while I would guess he is streaky he domes provide it. He takes almost 60% of his shots from that distance. The problem with him is his 2 point percentage. He shoots OK although could be better at the rim but outside of that it's pretty bad. He is a very good FT shooter although he doesn't take a lot.

If you care about VORP he has been neutral or positive every season except on of the ones with the Clippers.

He gets a decent amount of steals and averages a half a block per 36 for his career. I'm not suggesting he is a good defender but a half a block a game for a guard is pretty good and speaks to some sort of effort or athletic ability or general activity.

I'm not driving the bus for Bones to be signed but there is some positives on his resume. I'm still hoping for someone more established to be signed. I'd guess that if Bones gets signed it will be a partially guaranteed deal at most and maybe that's all he and his agent are pushing for over taking a deal to play in Europe.

Bones Hyland might be in the running for the NBA's worst player. I've watched him play for the Clippers and he looked like he didn't belong in the NBA. He kept turning the ball over, bricking the ball and got repeatedly lost on defense. Damn, TC. Cheerleader Joe, Bones and Empty spot, plus opting to trade down for Rocco when Rasheer Fleming was on board. No Lonzo Ball, no Tyus Jones, no Tre Jones, no Brogdon, no Ben Simmons, but we got fkin Bones. TC is killing me especially after he drafted Wendell Moore over Andrew Nembhard and traded away a second that could have drafted AJ Mitchell (I liked both guys and hated Moore) to dump the same Wendell Moore. Nembhard and Mitchell would both be great pickups but TC drafted Wendell Moore and inexplicably extended him when he sucked and then gave up opportunity for Mitchell by dumping him. I just think its hilarious the amount of praise TC gets when essentially the core guys are the ones he inherited.

What you are perceiving as "Love For Bones" is not quite accurate. It's more like a "We Know It's Gonna Be Bones, And I Can Live With That". He's not coming here to compete for a spot in the rotation, let alone the starting line up. That's why guys like Brogdon are not signing on the bottom line.

I'm glad you can hang your hat on something TC did that hasn't worked out, such as Moore. But to suggest TC doesn't deserve a ton of credit for where the Wolves are today is laughable. The Wolves might be as well positioned to compete both now and in the future as they have ever been in their franchise history. I don't care what he was given to begin his tenure -- two straight Western Conference finals, the outlook for the upcoming season, and the stability of what the Wolves have for the future deserves a ton of praise.

Although, KG4 might be right about Fleming. I was certainly a fan of nabbing him at #31. Time will tell if that was a missed opportunity, but we know TC knows all the ins and outs on these guys. And Rocco might be the bomb in a couple years!

Although, KG4 might be right about Fleming. I was certainly a fan of nabbing him at #31. Time will tell if that was a missed opportunity, but we know TC knows all the ins and outs on these guys. And Rocco might be the bomb in a couple years!

I liked Fleming but I also like Rocco and having 2 more chances down the road of adding another player or using those 2nds to make some other move. I'll also add that the Wolves have Leonard Miller as a prospect that might be somewhat similar to Fleming and also picked up Enrique Freeman an older player on a 2-way but still is somewhat intriguing that does some similar things. It's not like Connelly has nailed every pick or move but he often gives himself various opportunities to find another player in one way shape or form. The Wolves are currently slated to go into the 2026 draft with 3 draft picks.

Also I haven't seen anything that says Bones has actually signed yet.

John Wall retires. That's one option off the board. I think he could still play depending on what you were looking for. I wonder what he is doing next. Maybe the big 3?
