I did too. I've been positively surprised by Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers' defense, and negatively surprised by out O line and defense. Not the way I thought it would go either. I agree that 2-2 through the soft part of our schedule signals a potentially lost season. If we were 3-1, I would be advocating for Wentz to start next week. But now if JJ is ready to go, I would start him against Cleveland.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 11:00 am I actually thought we'd win this game. What a pile of poo.
I think they tried to draw us offsides. For sure a blunder to not go for it there. Analytics have to be screaming go for it. With how they almost choked the game away and played soft and like crap at the end (blown coverages and bad coaching) they can't be feeling that great either.
If the oline isn't completely healthy why put McCarthy out there again? Someone playing QB is gonna get hurt. Personally I think Wentz was kinda good. I can't imagine what kind of stats he would have put up if he has like half the pressure he faces or even a third less. Meanwhile the running game wasn't as good when the backups were in.FNG wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 11:16 amI did too. It made a lot of sense to go for it. I don't know what the thinking was there why they did it. If they tried a short punt to try and take time off the clock or pin the Vikings inside the 10 that would have made some sense too but they punted the ball out of the ends zone. It was a little weird.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 2:05 pmI think they tried to draw us offsides. For sure a blunder to not go for it there. Analytics have to be screaming go for it. I loved Tomlin here and thought he's been a great HC overall. However that was flat out moronic.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 4:25 pmIt made a lot of sense to go for it. No they can't get healthy, I bet Kelly is out the year (maybe career) if not a couple months and O'Niel might be 6 games to the year too, not checked in on any updates. Missing 60% of the Oline is just a recipe for disaster, what we saw today. The only guy whos played now every snap I think is Fries.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 4:23 pmIf the oline isn't completely healthy why put McCarthy out there again? A bigger problem is Ryan Kelly. This is his 2nd concussion this season. At what point might he not play anymore? The Vikings may have to sign another center unless Jurgens plays decent. I kinda doubt he will but it's also hard to evaluate him when the oline is a twirling carousel. Not having a vet Center might make me more likely to stick with a vet QB for a week or 2 also.
More dissapointing was the defense. It felt like they gave up a lot easy plays today. I didn't not expect then to give up as much as they did.
Isaiah Rogers has already earned his entire 2 year contract.
Now I'll say this...playing a game overseas I don't care how much these guys and the Vikings staff are pros and all that it's still a wildcard type situation. For all the uneven play the Vikings had today they had a legit chance to win the game. They are 2-2 with a bunch of legit players missing games or parts of games. Can they ever get healthy? Can they bounce back against Cleveland?
Fair question, monster. I can't get inside KOC's head, but I think his decision will depend on whether he thinks they have a chance of competing this season. If he does, it's almost a Conley/Rob dynamic...Rob is the PG of the future (we hope) but Finchy knew Conley gave them a better of chance of competing. Wentz was not perfect today with the 2 picks, but he did give us a chance to win...I really don't think JJ would have been as successful in the face of the kind of pressure Pittsburgh was bringing.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 4:23 pmIf the oline isn't completely healthy why put McCarthy out there again?
