I went 70-74. I predicted 52 wins thinking this would be a down season after 2 WCFs. Im not sure we even get to 52 at this point. Hard for me to go anything but average when this team seems to be regressing on both sides of the ball. I could see blaming Connelly for not having a pg on the roster but Ive been dissapointed with the team play this year. I have always believed coaches influence team play, I fear Finch is losing his ability to impact change. I could easily change with another solid playoff run. We may luck out and get LA now.
The question was overall job performance, but I'm with you. Everything rides on how this postseason turns out. We lose in the first round, he's cooked. In my mind we should be competing with the SA's and OKC's, if we're not then what are we doing?
Minus having a legit PG, our team is very talented and I truly don't think SA or OKC are that much more talented (we are close).
Now saying that I don't think coaching makes as big of a difference as some others may think (I think NBA coaches are either slight improvements or slight negatives overall barring a complete disaster), talent is so close between top teams that a small improvement could make the difference. But really nearly all of the winning and losing is on the players. Players need to lead and do their job.

WF, if we are mostly healthy and lose in the first round to a Lakers team missing Luka, I agree Finchy is gone. And I also think that might cause TC to blow things up and really go in a different direction in terms of roster. Further, we may see similar actions if we get totally blown out in the second round by the Spurs (or maybe the Thunder).

Yep sure. Even with a close loss in round two, I could see TC making a move or moves. Heck we could make the Finals and TC still makes a trade possibly, likely not a coaching change though. Make the Finals and Finch is for no doubt safe at that point as we'd be exceeding expectations.
But yeah, get blown out again like 4-1 even in the WCF, I wouldn't blame TC for making a coaching change.

When was that?
21-22 season
They were #13 that season, so just barely above average. Since Rudy joined we have been chronologically #10, #1, #6, and #5 this season. That's a pretty big and sustained jump.
That team started rookie Jaden and Ant, Kat, Dlo and Vando. The fact that was an upper level defense is a great coaching job

Pat Bev started more games than Jaden and was a notable factor in raising their defensive rating.

Finch is fine. But that is it. Just fine. Typical MN nice. That is where he will stay, until I see him draw up an actual offensive play in the critical moments, and call a timeout when it has to happen.
The dude freezes in pivotal moments.
Western Conference Finals is his limit. The players brought him there. Tim Connelly brought him there.. Not Finch.
