WildWolf2813 wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 3:43 pm I wouldn't say any of them are considered overrated nationally. If anything, Rudy's one of the most hated players in the league to the point where we think any tall oaf can do what he does for minimum wage.

Randle is a player who doesn't get remembered fondly by any team who had him. Knicks fans miss DiVincenzo so much more than Randle.

Naz amongst Wolves fans is extremely overrated. I get why, but fans (and some media) really tried to speak into existence him having the KAT role on this team and being the 2nd best player on it because he got it out the mud. Jaden's another one where we thought all he had to be diet Kawhi is talk ourselves into it. Instead, we're gonna head into year 7 still waiting for "the leap." If this was Ant we woulda gave up by now and cut our losses.

Is Beringer overrated? Not yet. I think we have to be realistic about his floor as well as his ceiling. I choose to be patient with him because we're supposed to be.

I think Jaylen Clark was overrated to begin the season and it took this season for everyone to realize that he's Josh Okogie

Considering who started this thread, this is really an "I hate Ant" thread, which is ok. We've hitched our wagon for better or worse to Ant. To do anything else is to basically decide that this team is worthless until at least 2033.
Dubs, you're bat shit crazy regarding McDaniels. You didn't see a leap this year? He shot over 41% from 3 and had career highs in PPG, FT%, assists, and blocks. All while guarding the other teams best player every night. He threatened a 50-40-90 season. The only thing keeping him from averaging 20 points is his role on the team. What kind of leap are you expecting? I really don't understand the shade you put on him.
I didn't say he didn't make a leap. But we're still waiting on a payoff with him that hasn't come yet. The 32 point game 6 shouldn't be some moment where we as a fanbase say "Finally." The days where we wonder why he's not more assertive or involved shoulda been over by now. We've been holding onto this idea that he should be an 18-20 ppg do it all sidekick to Ant since his summer league days. We're wrapping up year 6 and it still feels like we're not close to a day where he does that night in and night out. If you wanna blame that on his role, then it's pretty clear who should get his walking papers as soon as this season over because Chris Finch vehemently disagrees with your McDaniels assessment. There's this idea that if he got moved in a Giannis deal that we'll see the real JMac shine. Well that brings me back to this: if Finch is standing in the way of that, that is cause alone to move on from the coach because (and this goes back to my Naz point) we're searching for this 2nd option to go with Ant that solves these problems we think it's been here the whole time. I disagree with that and if the issues are based on role, then the coach gotta go.

Ultimately, here's how I feel about McDaniels. He makes $25 mil a year or so. If he was a real 2nd option we should be thinking we underpaid him by half. That has not happened. There should be nights where if Ant doesn't have it, JMac better have it. I'm not asking him to be the 2nd best player on the team, for I don't think he's good enough for that. Is it remotely possible that he's the third best player on a championship team? Sure. That still leaves this gigantic hole after Ant. How do we fill that void? I don't know. I do know that it's neither Naz nor JMac. That's not a knock on them. That's just my observation on them. The ones who disagree, I feel do so because they love them that much.

I overrated Ju personally. He was in a slump for a couple months after a great start to the year, I said he'll bounce back, I trust his history to bounce back and play solid ball. Nope. But I did also say that we will only go as far as Ju plays well. IF he plays well we can win any series. But without him playing a B type of game or better were cooked.

I will say that another middling team could get great player potentially. He's playing his D minus game these last 4 months and we're going to be looking to sell low. Just imagine if he saying somewhat closer to the Ju we saw to start the year???

Again, he guards the other teams best player every night and expends a ton of energy in doing so. He shoots over 50% from the floor and over 41% from 3. Doesn't that prove he could score a lot more with just 5 more shots or plays run for him per game? This current series not withstanding, he's a proven playoff performer who regularly ups his level of play in the biggest games. I think he's a top 50 player in the league and a lot of smart basketball people would agree with that.

That's a good way of putting it, WF. Ju is clearly not overrated in the NBA world...as others have said, he and Rudy are ripped by the media constantly. But I (and some of the local podcasters) were overrating him when he was so great at the start of the season. He just couldn't sustain it.
My ranking:
Joan
Ant
Naz
Probably Clark

Why is hanging out with Obama a good thing? You couldn't pay me to do it.

In the pantheon of overrated NBA players, I think Ant has to be lower on the list. CJ McCollum and Devon Booker are much higher on the list. And the is DECADES long. Hell, Kevin Durant and James Harden are overrated.

Randle is an enigma wrapped in paradox. He plays lights out, then disappears for months. I have been highly critical of him and Finch's love for him, but the Wolves need him to be more than he seems to supply, but he just can't do it. I wish another team valued him like Finch...maybe the answer is to trade them both!
