Lynx now 4-2 after beating Chicago who Reeve said just a few days ago was a better team. The Lynx still had some issues in that game but they got the win.

Ya. The Lynx are a really small team (Cheryl really doesn’t believe in a traditional center) and Cardoso for the sky is huge and they played her off the court. They put her in so many PnR and Howard ate her alive. Credit to the sky making a run. Elizabeth Williams played great second half defense on Howard and Taylor hit big 3s to get them back in the game what is super abnormal.

Lynx are now 176-9 since 2010 when holding the opponent under 40%. At the moment they might not have the talent of some of these teams but Cheryl is the GOAT for a reason and my god they might be title contenders when they get healthy.

Imagine if the Lynx were healthy they would have had lots of size options. Reeve always has her teams play very well defensively. Olivia Miles as a true PG that can also score herself is really a pretty important dimension to drop into a team especially one that's kinda put together on the fly.

I share your admiration for Cheryl, kek...amazing to think she has been the coach for 16 years, and was COY in just her second season. I agree that she has coached a team without a traditional center for a few years now, but I don't agree that she doesn't believe in it...after all, she traded for Sylvia Fowles who became the 2-way anchor for the team for almost a decade. Has she said something about her preference for playing without a center? Now that I think about it though, drafting Miles when 2 potentially very good centers were available might be evidence of your take.

Well they also likely knew they were signing Cechova out of Europe and she looked pretty good before she had the knee injury.

So I have no proof that she does not like a traditional center from comments she has made. Maybe I should say she doesn’t like back to the basket players anymore and likes those mobile bigs or can stretch the floor.

Lynx have been the smallest time for bigs the last 3 years. In FA they have had Dorka, Alanna, MHA, Howard, chekova. Masha is the only player who I would say is on the slower side and she could stretch the floor.

I think Cheryl has changed her style to 5 out play. Spread the floor and play PnR.

Not saying she won’t add a traditional big, because you are right she had Fowles for all those years but recent history shows she is going in another direction even when every vet was a FA this year and they could of drafted a big center prospect this year at a position of need.

From what I have seen I think Reeve has wanted to put as much skill on the floor as she can which may also make sense when you consider the last few years they were building a roster without multiple star level players. If a big isn't a shooter than they need to be able to pass and or handle the ball. Shepard (been stuffing the stats sheet in Dallas) basically didn't take any 3's the last few years when playing for the Lynx but she was such a good passer and could get a bucket in a number of situations. Howard can pass set screens and get some buckets...and she was signed for cheap while already knowing what would be asked of her.

I was wondering what the Lynx would do in this draft but I didn't have a feel of what prospects were good other than reading a few things. I saw Betts play of course in the championship game but I wasn't exactly blown away by her. I hadn't watched Miles play a game before she was drafted. Meanwhile watching Cechova in sole highlights and then some actual WNBA games...I was pretty impressed with her and she fits better what Reeve has been doing probably more than Betts based on what I saw of her and what I read.

It will be interesting to see what they do if they run out of games for their developmental players before Dorka and or Collier return. Maybe someone else will be able to step up by then playing in a small lineup.

Lynx have waived Hamzova so I'd guess they are gonna add a big to their roster maybe one of the developmental players. I thought she looked like an intriguing player maybe they bring her back on a developmental roster spot.

Kek is there anyone out there you would like to see them add to the roster?

I have no names at the moment. But they could be doing some contract fuckery also. They might be giving King a legit contract and then bring Hamzova back on a developmental contract (she must be waived first)

I also believe 2 of the Lynx last cuts in poffenburger and sherrod have not signed elsewhere yet. And players like Julie vanloo
was waived recently also. Emma Messuman was close to signing the Lynx last year
