Some of these losses this season have been absurd.

I was frustrated when it happened in the opener... blowing a 3-run lead in the 9th. Yet it sure does seem like an omen now.

I've seen my fair share of kid baseball games. And losing on a lazy fly ball drop to center... and overthrow on the relay is about as kid-like as you'll get in the major leagues.

Yep that was a pretty tough way to lose a game and there has been too many bad plays for a team like this.

Yeah, I think the prevailing view is that we will be sellers at the deadline, and that Buxton and Berrios will be the prime candidates. I've heard some buzz that certain contenders might want to give up a lot for Byron if they think he can stay somewhat healthy the second half of the year. But this could turn out well for the Twins, because since Byron would be a rental, they might get some nice prospects and then keep him by signing him as a free agent. Could happen with Berrios too. Both players are on one-year contracts and have a lot of friends on the Twins. It's not at all unlikely that the Twins could turn this disastrous season into a big positive.

Simmons is the most obvious player to move if it comes to that and losing 3 in a row the last games is killing the vibe of the season. Let's see if Nick Gordon can play or not.

I'm not sure the Twins would really trade either Buxton or Berrios. I would think they would have to get a guy that's either ready to play now or ready to make their debut. If the Twins are really going to be sellers they are going to end up with a bunch of prospects. Heck they might even be smart to move some assets to get a youngish player that fits if they are locked in on a reasonably good contract.

4 errors against the Yankees last night.

Refsnyder hurt his hamstring and had to leave the game. At least Buxton is playing in AAA.

Really disappointing night, monster. Pineda was locked in...hitting the corners with his fastball. But then he seemed to tire in the oppressive heat. And the defense was terrible! Just an awful game both at the plate and in the field for Turtuga. But most depressing of all is what happened to Jung-Tae. He hit the crap out of the ball twice, but his second hit typified this Twins' season. He scorched one to left center that everyone (including him) thought was gone for a 2-run homer. But it hit the very top of the fence, and he had to leg it out for a double...injuring his hammy in the process. Such a shame, because I think this kid is for real and is finally getting a chance to live up to his college hype at 30. His swing looks legit.

But yeah, good news about Buck playing well last night in St. Paul. I don't know why he's legging a double into a triple when he's coming back from an injury, but he only knows how to play one way...all out. Maeda pitches tonight I think.

For Buxton it may have been a pretty easy triple. I'll say here that honestly I know he is fast but so often for some reason I can't tell. I think it's partly because he is a taller guy and obviously he is fast but for some reason I can't really gauge it most of the time. It's kinda weird. Perception is an interesting thing.

Twins walkoff against Chapman and the Yankees. Alex K hurt his ankle so Nick Gordon played in CF and had 2 hits. Buxton had 2 HRs with the Saints last night.

Unbelievable win last night. Chapman had something like a 0.32 ERA coming into the game, and the Twins' bats weren't exactly on fire. Then they end up hitting 4 rockets, the last three on consecutive pitches! Morneau was talking about how Chapman was using his breaking ball effectively more this season, and after a couple to Polanco, the next 3 hitters saw nothing but fastballs. It's been a terrible season and we're still 13 out, but that was one of the greatest wins I can remember. Really fun finish.

Yeah, and good to see Buck and Maeda both with good outings in St. Paul.

Speaking of the minors I need to get down to Wichita this summer and see the Twins AA squad, the Wind Surge play. I read an article today that some unexpected players have been doing well in the minors especially in the power Department. Jose Miranda is one of those guys.

Good news:

Bailey Ober has had a couple encouraging Outings to begin his major league career. Nelson. Tux looks to be back in a groove and Donaldson might be joining him.

Bad news: Matt Shoemaker is a disaster right now and the Twins have so many injuries at all levels they may sorta need him because they don't have other options for a while. He did almost pick up a guy at 1st in the 9th. It's a good thing the Twins didn't make any lengthy commitments to their FAs in the offseason.
