The Sixers beat the Clippers. Another plus tonight for the Wolves. Speaking of the Sixers, Simmons had 22 points, 12 boards and 4 assists while Embiid had 31 points and 16 rebounds. Covington added 32 points. The Sixers have shown a lot of patience with the injuries experienced by their top picks. But things seem to be coming together for them.

A good example of how misleading that plus-minus stat can be. Similarly, the Greek Freak had 27 high efficient points to go with 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, yet he was only a +9.

By the way, Evans was a really nice value acquisition by the Grizzlies.

Yes, it is really disturbing that Wolves trade a collection of assets to all star wing Jimmy Butler while Memphis signs Tyreke Evans for a really cheap deal and then it looks like Evans is at least offensively outperforming Butler.

Butler 16.2 pts, 5.1 rbs, 4.7 asts, 2.4 TOs with 53.8 TS% and 14.7 PER in 36.2 minutes
Evans 18.5 pts, 4.9 rbs, 3.1 asts, 1.7 TOs with 63.4 TS% and 24.4 PER in 27.7 minutes

I would really like to see Wolves once signing or trading for a player that will play much better for Wolves than he has played in past. It seems that they end up for paying always too high price about players that will get worse while they are playing for Wolves.

That's a nice comp Mikkeman. Minnesota is where good players come to die. Kind of like when old people move to Florida.

Yup, it's all too common of a trend. That's why it is tough to say "if only we drafted X or if only we traded for Y"......put them in our culture and may be they don't get as good as they do with other teams.

In Butler's defense, he does not quite get the same opportunity with the Wolves to score in volume given the other weapons around him. I think the part that disappoints me is that he and Thibs have not helped changed the poor defensive culture (yet) and his lower usage hasn't led to higher efficiency. The shots he does take tend to still have a high degree of difficulty.

Yes. I don't think it's quite as startling as it looks at first.

The two guys are in entirely different situations. Butler has made a concerted effort to get others involved on a team trying to find its pecking order with 4 guys taking at least 11 shots.

Rookie Dillon Brooks is 4th in shot attempts for Memphis at 7.7. Evans is being asked to be THE guy in a lot of lineups. To be fair, he's excelling. And he's definitely resurrecting his career... including from deep. I'm just pointing out that Butler's offensive stats would be higher if he was the #1 option.

Many of us had OG Anunoby as a top target in this last draft, and for good reason. His stats are not gaudy, but he is playing very efficient offensive ball and looks as advertised on defense. Would have been a perfect bench player for this team as he can play the 3 or 4 spot, and can switch everything.

Thought it was a missed opportunity by Thibs then, and it's even more glaring now.

Let's wait to see how Patton plays. I mean it is not Thibs fault Patton got hurt

Let's get back to the real question....How much of Giannis' improvement is from KGs mentoring?

Simmons and Embid putting on a show against the Lakers. Granted neither team is really playing D. But those sixers are impressive. I have zero confidence in their ability to stay healthy, but nice to watch.
