Here is a comparison of the cumulative stats for their first 4 seasons in the league. I fail to see a big difference.

May I have a helping of hyperbole too? Jeepers, go look at the numbers. When Budinger was healthy, he was a solid wing (not great, but solid). Hayward proved last year he can't be a main cog. Charlotte is throwing max money at a guy that will be their 3rd option.

That's astonishing...Hayward is a better distributor, but other than that, they are mirror images. Hard to say Bud isn't a value player after looking at that comparison...IF he can get past the knee issues.

Q, hayward is a superior player over bud. Just watch them play in actual games. I say that as a fan of bud. They are not 'not much different' as you put it. Watch hayward play in an actual game and you can see the difference.

I agree that hayward is not max material. But he is at least worth what batum and gallinari got. He is your 3rd or 4th best player in a contending team. Bud at his best is a rotation guy on a contending team. Bud at 5m is the max for him if he ever stay healthy and get back his athletic ability.

Hayward is more of a true SG and he has some shake and handles, which is definitely more appealing to the eye. Budinger is more of a pure SF that moves well off the ball and prefers catch and shoot jumpers. Still....the numbers don't lie.

Budinger has been a bust for us so far, I get that. My point is that if he ever returned to what he was prior to the injuries, he's really a very solid player, and arguably not much different from Hayward in terms of overall production.

I don't think this bodes well for the Cavs. You think Lebron would want to meet with Blatt and not just go off things his agent has told him about the Cavs pitch.

Q- Bud is a bench player at best. Hayward is a starter and he was the number 1 option for the Jazz when he is suited to be a 3rd or 4th option. He was still a very productive player with the best perimeter defender on him night in and night out. There is a huge difference between playing against bench guys and the opposing team's best defender. If he goes to Charlotte, he'd have Kemba and Big Al getting attention which is more than any other player on the Jazz's roster. Hayward is literally better in every single statistical category than Bud playing against tougher competition. It's not even close. There's a reason Gordon is getting a max offer and Bud got 5 million. Hayward is worth at least 10 million a year and Bud is worth 2.5. Bud's best season was 10 PPG, 3.5 RPG and 1.5 APG. Hayward just averaged 16, 5 and 5 against tougher competition. I don't know what stats you are looking at, but I really don't see how they are close on any level.

You need to watch hayward play in actual games q. There is a reason why a player starts, is more highly regarded and gets big offer compare to another player. You cant rely on numbers. I trust eye test as well as what majority of those who works in the nba more when it is believed that hayward is a superior player compare to bud.

Yeah, doesn't seem a great comparison in my mind. Khans makes the most important point in that Hayward was the focal point for other teams to defend, while Bud is of no real concern to any defender...even on the second unit. And I would say there is a HUGE statistical difference in +200 rebounds, +600 assists, +140 steals, +100 blocks and +1,300 points....in only 4 seasons. That is massive no matter how you look at it. While Hayward is certainly overpaid, he is a far superior player for the simple fact that he is extremely well rounded and contributes all over the court. Bud is simply a bench guy that shoots a meager percentage for a guy known as a shooter. Not even close, as many have said.
