Plan on your top 3 of your top 6 picks starting.
CB/WR/LG/??
I do think there is some worth in having some vets around that are paid what they are worth while you develop your young guys. Would you be willing to pay Rudolph about 5 million next year assuming he is still healthy and effective? That's the cap savings they would be looking at. I'd keep him.
Are you gonna Cut Harrison Smith loose too? =) JK At this point his current contract has probably been below market value for what going on now like 3 years maybe longer? Even if he isn't an elite Safety anymore and just a pretty good one 10 million is probably still less than what he is worth. 2021 is the last year of his current contract and it possible they would have to give him a nice raise to keep him beyond that. When you see things like that you can see some merit in their approach and looking to go young even if it means letting some older players go and trading Diggs.
Meanwhile I just read an article on NFL.com that had Cousins extension as a "smart" move. I tend to agree but I also don't think keeping Cousins the player is knocking it out of the park either.

I agree with what you are saying. I think if Speilman had access to a certain Delorean he gets in that thing and punch it up to 88mph and go back to last year and not extend Rudolph or Barr.
I am surprised we have not seen anything on the Everson Griffin front. I am not sure why he would post he is not coming back without a deal. I would love to have him back. They talk about he is the voice of the defense. I felt like the team treated him right so I had hope.

I'd guess Spielman would have Quite a few higher priorities if he could go back in time than the Barr and Rudolph deals. Lol
I'd guess with Griffen both sides couldn't come to a deal that made sense. I'll be surprised if Griffen doesn't end up with at least 1 year of a new deal where he gets very well paid. Maybe the market dries up and he comes back. I doubt it. It's too bad but that's the way things are now.

One thing is 100% certain. He wouldn't change his mind about Christian Ponder. He would have created a better environment around him so we could have kept Samantha in town. Zimmer would have loved having a QB that would never audible out of a run play.

Sam Ponder is talented.
Christian...it was all mental. Couldn't process information quick enough and had a terrible placket awareness but at least he was decently athletic otherwise he would have been really terrible.
It seems like the Ponders legitimately would be cool to hang out with.
2nd best QB in that draft was dalton or maybe Kaepernick who sorta has an asterisk with his career? That was not a good QB draft. I remember back when Colin Cowherd was on ESPN in the morning basically yelling about how Ryan Mallet was the best backup QB in the NFL and some team should give up picks to get him. Ah the good old days.

We got him.
Vikings reach deal with WR Tajae Sharpe for 1-year deal.
Free agent receiver Tajae Sharpe has agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings, a source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.
Sharpe, 25, had 25 receptions for 399 yards and a career-high four touchdowns last season, his fourth with the Tennessee Titans.

I'm assuming it's a pretty cheap deal. He seems to be a lot of what I would hope Treadwell would turn into but Sharpe has done some more. From what I can gather he is a good dude. He just turned 25 a couple months ago and had experience. He becomes the 2nd most experienced WR on the roster by a large margin. I don't have high hopes for him but he seems like a solid addition.

Vikings sign Anthony Zettel. You may remember how he destroyed the Vikings a couple years ago when he was with the lions. He hasn't done a whole lot since that last year. The Vikings tried to claim him on Waivers in September of 2018 so apparently they have liked him for a while. He played both DT and DE at Penn state. Sounds like a high motor high effort guy. Seems like he would be someone Zimmer might throw inside on passing downs. Another cheap experienced option. He did get some defensive snaps for the 49ers in the playoffs last year and played some defensive snaps in the super bowl.

Rhodes signs with the Colts for a 1 year deal worth a reported aprons 5 million. It's a bit amusing reading comments of Colts fans on Twitter. I don't think Rhodes sucks but...honestly I'm not sure I would pay him 5 million. I wouldn't be against it exactly but 5 million isn't cheap. I'd hope you could get someone decent for less. I think it will be interesting to see how this new DB coach Daronte Jones does...likely working with basically a very young secondary except for Harrison Smith.

Looks like Dozier- G, Jones-C, and Wilson are back.
I like the Sharpe signing. It sounds like he only has one drop in his NFL career.
