He was the best LT we put out there last year. Too bad he got hurt.

So did the draft fix the OL? I feel like we need a LT project.

I think getting Elf was pretty big. We will see if the other guy they drafted is any good. I think they have a decent group of guys that you hope one more player steps up besides I am sure they will have some other guys in camp. I would imagine Hill is the LT project but they could have some other project along those lines as well around. I think a player needs to step up in the interior because I wonder if this is Berger's last year. Wolfson reported a while ago he wasn't a lock to come back this year so yeah. They could sign a vet also that's available. I doubt it unless it's more of a depth guy but that's an option.

I have high hopes for Elf, Hill, and Sirles. It will be intersting if Clemmings and Beavers make the team. I have a feeling Clemmings is going to be given a shot to win the RG spot and compete with Sirles and Berger.

First of all we have to see what position Elf plays and therefore where Berger goes. At this point it seems likely that Elf and Berger have a starting spot locked up regardless of where they end up. I can't see how Clemmings has a shot at starting or really competing for a starting spot right now. We don't even know what spot they are going to put him at.

I am thinking they will go back to Clemmings at RG. They love the guy and his build. That is where they started with him his rookle year in Rookie Camp and then moved him all over. Not saying it is right, but that is my feeling.

It makes sense but remeber this team still has a need at the tackle spot also. Hill, Sirles (who is a factor at guard) and some relatively inexperienced guys beyond that. They have a bunch of guys listed at tackle on their roster including Beavers but is that where they see them as guys going forward? Where does Beavers play? I'm not saying Clemmings isn't going to get a shot playing guard I wouldn't be surprised either way what position they put him at. I'm not even arguing Clemmings should be at Tackle I'm just not sure they are going to move him to guard based on what they have done with him the last 2 seasons.

They have guys like Easton and Kerin interior lineman that have been around a decent chunk of time and have some experience. Regardless it will be interesting to see how things shake out. There will be some decent competition and really there are not a ton of open roster spots as they basically filled spots where players aren't there anymore.

Monster - Isn't it crazy the number of bodies they have invested here from salary, picks, and projects?

Not sure how many they will be able to keep on the roster and practice squad. I think we were in the position like you said where we almost had to draft for starters because we have projects that might be ready to produce like Easton, Sirles, and Hill. Then you have Clemmings and Beavers that they used 4th rounders on. I just don't see Beavers making the team. I wonder if it will come down to Clemmings vs Hill for backup LT.

My guess is if you go back the last few years you would find plenty of OL on the 90 man roster for this team. In the past it wasn't something you spent focusing on so much because the line wasn't such an issue. I could be wrong but I'm not invested in looking it up. Keep in mind 2 of the guys they had on their oline last year Sirles and Easton were UFA that other teams signed before they made trades to bring them in. There is plenty of reason to bring in plenty of guys you may find a couple they may be trying not to miss those guys. Your point about all the bodies rings true though but with a much different degree than last year where they had a bunch of established vets but with question marks while the developmental guys were...more developmental. Some of those younger guys are closer to the forefront now which in some ways is good because in the case of Sirles he had at least some legit success.

Sidenote Fusco is expected to sign with the 49ers.

Yeah now just thinking about last year. We had so much veteran depth.

Good for Fusco. He was servicable in my opionion. Good backup.
