Just for fun...

Rudy Gobert makes $465,517,244 per game.
- About 1.5% of Americans make that much money per year.
- Heck, only 8.5% of Minnesotans make at least $200k per year. But we're all smart, fairly successful people, so let's put the average Wolves forum guy in this group. Let's call our faux ticket holder Flipoli. He's the Director of Communications for Entrust. He wants to take his hoops-obsessed son, D-Loosest, to the Wolves game.

A solid but not near the best ticket for the Wolves vs. Heat game (Section 11, Row N, Seat 7) is $283. So, Flipoli shells out $566 for the tickets. But he doesn't trust MetroTransit late at night, so he drives from his 5-bed, 4-bath 3,073 sq foot home in the western suburbs to the B Parking Ramp. $12.

But because Flipoli had to work late dealing with an issue handed to him directly by the CFO, he's running behind schedule. They're going to need to eat at the game. Flipoli gets a jamaican jerk bowl from Adam's Soul Food to Go ($19) and a soda ($7). Young D-Loosest gets chicken tenders and fries ($14). Later, he talks good old dad into a fruit smoothie from Maui Wowie. The kid melts down a little when he only gets a S ($10) instead of a L... but dad has to stop the floodgates somewhere.

Flipoli has now paid $628 to go to a game with one other person... a petulant young child at that.

___________

That would be like Rudy Gobert paying $119,861.38 to see his favorite team.

And remember, Flipoli is wealthier than 91%+ of Minnesotans.

We all get evaluated in your jobs. If I flop in a meeting/presentation or don't complete my projects timely in my job, people will treat me differently at work than if I'm at the top of my game. It's life. People have the right to react to what they are seeing. You can't take away booing anymore than you can take away cheering. It's spontaneous reaction to what people are feeling at that specific moment. The best way to stop booing is to simply play better.

Nice work Abe. I'm heading downtown for a root canal, but that brightened my day!

I would love to start booing some of my colleagues. Or even better my superiors, they make more money than me. This is one of those strange grey areas of sports fandom where socially awkward behavior is viewed as a right. Cant wait to see a bunch of people booing at the ballet or opera.

Fair points, doper. But I think we can all agree the typical spectator is more emotionally invested in a sporting event than they are a ballet. If someone screws up in a ballet, it doesn't piss me off. But if the wolves mail it in, most fans will be angry. And boo.

It feels necessary to remind everyone that Minnesota won this game -- and the three previous games to it. Yes, they came out flat. Yes, they received a horrid first half performance from their young star Anthony Edwards. But they proceeded to flip the switch collectively in the second half against an undermanned opponent and left with the victory -- something we used to see happen against overmatched Timberwolves teams quite often.

All this talk of booing is silly to me. Save the boos for the losing streak(s). Save the boos for late in the season if the two-big experiment has proven ineffective and futile. Booing in the midst of a winning streak just seems like really poor timing, especially when it's this early and they're still processing everything. No wonder the players are/were agitated about it. The lovely, tolerant, and usually quiet fans of Minnesota just booed them nights before they look to secure their fifth straight win. Something isn't adding up there.

Zach Lowe: "Can the Wolves just be happy for one minute? Even when they win there's angst and anger, and stuff in the air. They've won four games in a row. Every team that they've beaten has had a big injury, BUT you got to win the games. They needed to right the ship. It's just-- are they cursed? Does it always have to be miserable there?...They need to win NOW, and fans are starting to get a little impatient, but they are winning some games, alright? Be happy! Smile!"
