As for Marvin Williams, I'm not interested. He's been an underachiever his entire career. He's already 30 years old and he's had a history of back problems. Further, if we're going to sign a PF or C, he should help us on the boards. Williams is not much of a rebounder for a PF, averaging 5 rebounds in nearly 29 minutes per game over his career. If we're going to sign a big, I'd sign Cole Aldrich. I think he's underrated and under-utilized by the Clippers. He wouldn't cost much to sign and he'd give us some size and rebounding at the 5. He's averaged 3.7 rebounds in only 11 minutes per game over his career to date. He'd be great reasonably priced insurance against the prospect that Pek can't play.
I agree on Williams. Not the player we want to throw big money at. I also like the Aldrich idea, assuming we keep him around 10-15 mins a game. There are a lot of options this offseason, and avoiding the top tier, we should be able to find a couple very good deals. There are tons of players at each position i'd like to target early while everyone else chases the superstars.
C - Cole Aldrich, Robert Sacre, Boban Marjanovic, Kevin Seraphin, Jason Smith, JJ Hickson, Jordan Hill
PF - Darrell Arthur, Trevor Booker, James Johnson, Jon Leuer, Thomas Robinson, Mirza Teletovic, Marreese Speights
SF - Jared Dudley, Alonzo Gee, Jeff Green, Solomon Hill,
SG - Aaron Afflalo, Wayne Ellington, Gerald Henderson, Courtney Lee, E'Twaun Moore, Gary Neal, Brandon Rush, Hollis Thompson, Marcus Thornton
PG - DJ Augustin, Norris Cole, Ronnie Price, Donald Sloan, Ish Smith, Matthew Delladova, Brian Roberts
Adding any 3 of those players on team friendly deals would be great this offseason. Of course, it would be nice to get a Deng/Noah package, but i'll settle for these type of deals as well.
