Bjelly signs with the 6ers for 1 year at the midlevel.
6ers continue to do well.

Yeah, they will continue to be fun to watch, and this will be a good move for them. Belly made his threes at a good percentage last year, but often looked reluctant to let it fly when he was open. In an environement that encourages rather than discourages threes, I look for him to thrive. Simmons and Fultz are going to give Belly a lot of open looks, and with a more supportive coach on the sidelines, I see him having a big year.

Belly is making less than Tolliver so Thibs definitely has some explaining to do on that one.

Nemanja Bjelica: 1-yr, $4.4M
Anthony Tolliver: 1-yr, $5.8M -- Wolves hard capped.
Thibs, what the actual fuck?

No expanation will be offered here of course. But all Wolves' fans need to do to understand this move is to listen to what David Thorpe had to say about why most free agents don't want to play for Thibs. I don't know this for sure, but it appears Belly was so eager to get out of town that he was willing to sacrifice over a million dollars.
That said, I'm not completely opposed to the Tolliver move. I narrowly preferred Belly because of his superior toughness, defense and rebounding, but Tolliver will help us from beyond the arc. Still, this one doesn't smell good to me. We will never know if Thibs preferred Belly or Tolliver, but there may be undercurrents here that are not good for this franchise.

Like I said in another Tolliver, the Wolves paid him $5 mil because he's a nice guy who Glen knows and who has been here before.

I don't think it's fair to say Belly chose Philly over MN especially at a paycut. He signed in Philly for less after we signed Toliver, not before. Belly would have been in Philly for that deal a soon as Lebron went to LA if he was that eager to get out of town. We let him play the market, he was slow on a decision so Thibs moved on a guy he wanted and that pretty much eliminated Belly's chance of coming back. But of course this is because he didn't get along with Thibs. Your narrative math doesn't add up on this one.

The reality is if I had to pick one of these guys for 1 year and that's what they are signed for I pick Tolliver. He shoots more 3's is more consistent night to night minute to minute, is more likely to play more games, knows his role and will be more of an asset off the floor. Sure Belly COULD end up being the better player but that's wasn't/isn't certain. Finally as I said before 1 million or whatever makes basically no difference in terms of overall value of these guys. It's just a number. We could have signed Belly for the same amount as Philly and it would t have made much difference in what players we could have signed when you consider staying under the Lux tax.
As for Belly this is a good spot for him. Sometimes a different team and all that can help a guy. Personally this is one of those deals where it works out well for both players and teams. Wolves get a legit consistent better complimentary player and the Sixers get a nice player that fits into what they do. Both gets likely fit into a great role and both go to a winning situation. Win win win win. Ideally the Wolves have KBD that will end up being the replacement for either one of these guys.
