Fair response, Lip, though I ultimately disagree with you in that I think Thibodeau was twice the POBO Saunders was and the main reason for that is asset management. That's a different debate/conversation for another day, though. It's all history at this point.

Last quibble, you said that you didn't have a problem with the KG deal because it was good for KAT and it ignited the fan base, but I think we're talking about two different KG deals. What you're alluding to is the two-year, $16M deal heading into the 2015-16 season.

I'm referring to the mid-season decision to trade 26-year old Thaddeus Young for five total games of 38-year old Kevin Garnett in the 2014-15 season, which was just one example of Saunders' emotions getting the best of him. For the life of me, I will never comprehend that move in a basketball sense; just abysmal management. The Nets would go on to convince Young to opt out of his remaining year to sign a new contract followed by them trading him on draft night just a year later -- for the No. 20 overall pick (Caris Levert) and a future second round pick. For what it's worth, squeezing that value out of Young is considered by USA Today as one of the nine 'brilliant' moves the Nets made in their franchise turnaround.

Meanwhile, piss poor management from multiple executive hires leaves the Wolves in the state that they're currently in -- struggling to contend for a playoff position.

Here's what Minnesota needs to do:

find the 2 best shooters in summer league not committed to a team and sign them.

To be the bottom line on Flip's work as an executive here was incomplete. There was mistakes and flaws. He didn't get to see it through and even if you feel like he was a mediocre POBO (and coach) obviously it was a shame he didn't get a chance to put it all together.

The KG likely was a much worse sentimental move than any of the Timberbulls moves Thibs got ripped for incessantly. Every Timberbulls player that came here met or exceed the expectations for them. Still if Flip would have been here long term maybe KG's presence would have been a positive with lasting effects. Sadly we will never know. Ultimately I will always think of Flip fondly and hope some of his legacy that included some real positives is carried on with this franchise.

I always view the kg deal by flip to be a lot more complicated. Flip was in line to buy the wolves at that time and kg was one of the guys flip was recruiting to be a minority owner. Of course, he could have just signed him in the offseason but trading for him for a player that was a goner anyway help speed up that dialogue and repaired some burned bridges. That move makes some sense in theory as kg, if healthy would have value as a vet and bring respectability to the team. Ultimately hindsight was 20/20 as young did bring value to the nets but he could just leave us in that offseason anyway.

Like monster said, flip's legacy as POBO was incomplete due to his untimely passing but he did leave a solid groundwork for us with kat/wig/lavine and cap space that we wont ever know how he will use.

We say this EVERY year right? It feels that way and the idea behind it still rings true.

Dwight Howard is about to be available!!!!!!

Also Avery Bradley. He will be a nice addition to a team trying to win at a high level.

What is Tyus Jones' market at this point? I'm not as high on him as some here but his price has to be pretty reasonable now

Mavs get Delon Wright in a sign and trade with Memphis. 3 years 29 million contract for wright and Memphis also gets a couple 2nd round picks. Mavs are basically out of cap space now.

Amir Coffey has signed 2-way deal with the Clippers. Their initial press release had him averaging 9 point a game in his college career. Oops. Lol

Oubre got 2 years 30 million from the Suns. That's about what I thought he would get going into FA.
