Abe will love this. Marcus Smart with a 34% eFG% on the season. That's right. His effective FG% is less than 35%.
His Net Rating....+11.3, good for 3rd among their regular rotation guys. Unbelievable. Doing shit besides scoring matters!

I'll take him on my team any day.

Re: Around the NBA (non-Wolves talk)
Another one! Dammit. I wanted to start a Marcus Smart all on its own. Some more stats that defy logic...
He's shooting 26.8%...
- But he's still earning 30 mpg on a team that's won 14 straight games. Heck, he's shot even worse during the winning streak... 25.6%.
Last night he was 0 - 7 fg. 1 - 2 ft. And he had 3 TOs, including a terrible one with a minute left.
- The Celtics were +15 with him on the court.
- Smart has had a negative +/- rating only 2x in the streak... and he was -2 while shooting 6 - 10 fg in one of those games!
Jayson Tatum is shooting 49.7% fg / 48.9% 3fg / 83.6% ft as a starter... Smart is shooting 26.8% / 26.2% / 75.6% as a reserve... while taking more shots. What? WHY?
- Meh. Does it matter? Celtics have won 14 in a row.
_______________
You better believe I'm bringing up Marcus Smart's name when we finally reopen the Wiggins is a Disappointment thread... surprise, surprise.

Start a Marcus Smart thread if you want I'll be there.
Right now some of Aignes moves look absolutely brilliant and they weren't the obvious ones either. Picked Jalen Brown which was a bit of a surprise. Trades the #1 overall pick and takes Tatum #3 which was a surprise. Both guys look good and other players they could have drafted look less appealing. Instead of Fultz they have Tatum and Kyrie and don't have to make a tough deciding on IT. There are more nuances i didn't cover but at this point things are looking pretty good for Boston and Ainge has a lot to do with why.

Yes. As you know, I was praising Ainge every before this season started. He's been brilliant. Note that he has an all-star caliber player named Hayward on the roster who should could come back from is injury. The Celtics also have a number of incoming first round picks, including (1) the Grizzlies 2019 1st rounder, which is top 8 protected next season and eventually in protected a few years down the road, (2) the Clippers lottery-protected 2019 first rounder, and (3) the Lakers 2018 pick that's #1 and 6-30 protected and if it lands on a protected spot, the Celtics will end up with the better of the Kings or Sixers' 2019 first round pick. Meanwhile, the Celtics (after all their acquisitions) still have all their own future 1st round picks. That's how you run an NBA franchise!

Let's not forget that he took a former playoff team that hit rock bottom at 24 - 58... and turned it into a 66-win championship team in ONE season... then after a 6-year-run...
Rebuilt a 25 - 57 team into a playoff team in ONE season.
So yes... Ainge has had TWO rebuilds in Boston while Minnesota has failed to even reach the playoffs.
[Note: Is it any wonder I refuse to give up my Celtics fandom even though the Wolves are my #1 team?]

Re: Around the NBA (non-Wolves talk)
Golden State played incredible defense too. I was just impressed at the level of hustle by both teams. One thing Golden State has definitely figured out is Kyrie Irving. They know exactly how to guard him and make things difficult. There was almost NEVER a shot by either team that didn't involve a hard close out by the opponent.
As for Tatum, I know he's played well this season, but he looked a little more like a rookie last night. Still, it's just amazing that Boston has two rookies (Olejeye is the other) and a 2nd year 1-year college guy in their regular rotation. Brown was the most impactful player on their team last night. It was an inspired performance.

Lip, actually I remember you questioning Boston's moves this off season.

Oh snap. Who's gonna win this one?

Lol. Duke -- Which moves? I think you're confusing me with someone else. I liked the Tatum pick and loved the Kyrie deal. If I did question any of Ainge's moves, then shame on me. :)
