I'm mad at myself at forgetting about Stefanski. They likely have a very good in house canidate a guy that almost got the job a few months ago and Shurmer wants to hire as his OC. I don't think DFlippo sucks overall but I don't think he was getting the job done here with this situation. This offense wasn't coming together during a tough stretch and compared to last year it likely has a better QB, Cook Healthy (man that guy is fast) while only missing Berger. We should be doing better than we have. Hopefully this switch combined with maybe a healthy Morgan we can get on track. This is a pretty talented squad.

DFlippo just got his job back with Eagles. That was quick.

Poor line play blame - 50%
Poor Playcalling - 25%
Poor QB play - 25%

I think all three are to blame but the OLine is the weakest link. Let's not kid ourselves either, Cousins isn't a top tier QB. He's average, maybe above average and overpaid. But the offense could be much more successful if we could run the ball decently and pass block better.

Posted this on the wrong thread.

Crickets here.

Vikings crushed the Phins. The offense was on fire first 3 drives. They showed a heavy dose of multiple TE's and FB. Lots of play action and more under center plays. We will see if they can sustain this.

The Vikings got 4 players into the initial Pro Bowl list. Barr was one of them. I am not sure how that happened.

Paul Allen went on and on about Barr being the second most important player for teams to pay attention to on defense. Not that he is, but he can be disruptive and accounted for. I don't think the defense falls off much when he is out and his argument doesn't might be true, but it is mostly the position he plays and not how well he plays. Harrison Smith, on the other hand, is a unique player.

I'm not really sure why Barr got voted in but I also think he does more than a lot of Vikings fans things he does. He had a monster game against the Dolphins which obviously put him over the top.

As for the Dolphins game...not sure there is much to talk about. They did some good things and some bad things but statistically the Dolphins aren't all that good but somehow they have been able to wins some games so they should get credit for that. The Vikings have a lot of work to do. I don't think many people have a lot of belief in them and quite frankly they shouldn't.

The problem with Barr has always been consistency. When he's playing well he's all over the field. He can rush the passer. He can cover RB's and TE's on pass coverage well. He has the tools to do everything...but right now that's an every other year thing with him and not an every down thing. As far as the Probowl this year he's a big time recency candidate. 13 tackles and 3 sacks in the last 2 games. He has no other sacks on the year, no picks and 1 forced fumble with 2 deflections. He definitely didn't deserve it this year. Especially since he missed 3 games. But then again the Probowl usually has several bad picks every year so it's nothing new.

I read this about Barr and laughed.

Earlier this year the Vikings' defense struggled when opponents -- especially the Rams -- found ways to isolate Barr in coverage with wide receivers. Since then Zimmer has made tweaks and Barr has only given up 10 receptions on 13 attempts and zero touchdowns.

Well the Vikings got another win although the offense was not super impressive. I'm mentally preparing myself for the team not to make the playoffs. I'm not saying I don't believe just that I haven't really entertained the idea much before this week.

I am mentally prepared for this team to go out with a whimper. You never know though. Look at what the Eagles did last year.
