This will put my friend's source to the test. :)
Exchanging firsts to shed Dieng would be pretty painless. Probably means a heightened attempt to retain Belly?

Don't assume it will be a future first. It could be a second rounder. It appears to be a move to make salary room for Belly and Rose without hitting the luxury tax.

Ooof a 1st and Dieng for a future 2nd? Sorry, I knew I read that too good to be true.

I think this means it is critical to do something positive with the Aldrich contract via trade. Need to find a team desperate to shed salary. Maybe a deal like Aldrich for E'twuan Moore? Clarkson? PJ Tucker? Aminu? There are some guys out there to be had. We need to be smart here.

Good news about dieng, but bad news about rose getting more than the minimum.
Get lucky to get crawford to opt out then do something stupid with that extra $$ by overpaying rose.

If we dump a first to unload Dieng's contract, we should have a better plan for what to do with the cap space than Rose and Belly.
Theoretically, Belly should be a good fit for us as a stretch 4 who can help our passing, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to have worked out all that well.
Getting a switchable 3 and D guy would make so much more sense. Ariza's a little old, and there's probably somebody better out there I'm not thinking of, but we need somebody like that, actual switchable 3 and D guys so we can start competing with the league as it exists today and not in 2006.
The cap situation is going to be hell this year for players. I bet there will be some good deals for teams to be had. I like Dieng more than most, but if we can turn Dieng's bad contract into a good contract on a switchable 3 and D wing, that would be well worth the cost of the #20 pick.

I dont think there are many teams out there that can fully absorb dieng without sending anything back.
Dieng +20 for Bazemore + 34 + future 2nd makes sense.
Hawks can come out with doncic and a big like robinson or williams to play behind dieng.
We get a quality wing and can use the 34 on a wing that drops ( thomas or okogie).

There is no cap space to be had. If Lip's pal is right Rose is signing for the minimum so he wouldn't affect their situation. Dumping Dieng will allow Minnesota to dip into exceptions for other fas, possibly re-sign Belly, and sign Rose to the minimum without hitting the luxury tax. If the Wolves come out of this offseason offloading Dieng and comeback with Belly + middling wing fa that will be more than I expected.
I assumed Dieng couldn't be moved and his contract would lead to Belly leaving.
