Just nuts.
Exactly, they trade MCW? They're a complete shit show.
I don't know. MCW wasn't necessarily everyone's favorite out here in Philly. He can't shoot and he's very turnover prone.
But yeah, Hinkie isn't afraid to pull the trigger is he? It's pretty amazing how they keep on rolling a snowball of assets forward. However, that snowball is getting bigger and bigger. They have a ridiculous amount of draft picks coming their way. It's really insane. What will be interesting is to see how long it takes them to finally settle on a core group of actual players to build around!
Did these trades get them more draft picks? In a sense, they just got them the draft picks they already had. They got MCW with a first rounder, and then they turned him back into a first rounder. They got McDaniels with a second rounder, then they turned him back into a second rounder. How does this move your team forward?
MCW may not have had superstar written on him, but he is definitely one of the better sophomores in the NBA. Is Hinkie that confident that he can do better with another first rounder in the future? It's always a big risk. The chances of getting another rookie of the year are not great.
I mean, what is the point of stockpiling first rounders if you don't actually package them for a star or do anything with the players you pick with them except trade them for another first rounder? That just gets you back where you left off. Actually, since it's a future first rounder, it will get you back where you left off two years in the future! So it actually pushes your development back in time. I just don't get it.
And McDaniels. You get lucky with a second rounder, but he was smart enough to reject Hinkie's bad contract offer. But unless McDaniels said he wouldn't resign with them, they still would have had the inside track on re-signing the guy this summer. I can understand this a little more because of the contract though. But it's not like they got anything in return for him. Some backup PG they won't resign and a future 2nd rounder. Again, back to where they started in terms of picks, but they'll have to get lucky again to get a guy of Daniels' quality in the 2nd round, so it actually sets them back.
What the hell, Hinkie?
This was hilarious by the way.
